I have an old Pentium 4 M laptop with Mobility Radeon graphics (16MB vidmem) and a 1024x768 display ... and it plays Diablo II without problems. I think you should be fine! ;)

If you are willing to wait tonight or tomorrow... I'll post a thread on overclocking this video card, some benchmarks with 3D Mark, and I'll present some games at playable settings (if they can run smoothly), and stuff.
Games that I'll be testing will be FarCry2, GTA IV, The Witcher Enhanced Edition. The idea is not to show what is playable, but to give you the idea of the power of the video card. Already I can say that all these games run fine (minimum settings (except for The Witcher where it's medium low settings at 1440x900), slight choppy in some areas, without any overclock. Overclock should allow you to put all these games at some higher settings and be smooth all the way. Of course, as I'll say in the coming up thread on this forum section, is that a game can be configured differently (lose something for something else).

    Sounds good.

I installed Diablo II and Windows responded with "known compatibility issues" warning.

The Blizzards screen took more than 10 seconds to load and I was able to choose a character and name him, but the "guantlet" pointer froze on me.

    :(

    1. Have you applied the latest patch? Patches for Diablo II (and the expansion) can be found here; make sure you choose the proper patch to apply; if you have the Lord of Destruction expansion, don't apply the original patch and vice versa.

    2. Are you on Vista? Have you tried an XP compatibility setting on the game executable?

    :)

Get the second, because of the LED screen. It is up to you whether you need the Quadro (better graphics, less battery life).

    1) Yup. No LOD so it's all good.

    2. Yup.

I need to share my experience with adjusting Vista here when playing Diablo II.

Most of my changes were from this site: http://forums.diii.net/showthread.php?t=560383&page=5

It's a Diablo forum that started a LONG thread noting Vista's compatibility issues with DII.

Using information from the posts, I was able to play DII when I...

    1) Changed the properties in the DII startup (run program on XP, in 256, 640x400, as administrator and disable visual themes and desktop composition).

    2) Personalized the "Window Color and Appearance" to Windows Classic (thereby disabling Vista's Aero-Glass). It makes the windows look boring, but really speeds up the functions.

    3) Installed the patch (which the above poster linked) only for Diablo II.

    4) Installed GLIDE-wrapper (http://www.svenswrapper.de/english/index.html) which REALLY helped with the graphics.

I hope this helped someone out there!

The game plays well, but there are some issues:
    - some moments when the CD-Rom kick starts and the game pauses for a second.
    - when you level up (attributes and skill set +1), sometimes you can't drag and drop your items in your backpack.
    - save and exit because sleeping your laptop may be problematic (not experienced by me, just by some users on the dii forum).

I haven't tried playing without the AC plug, so I don't know if there's a huge power suck. Nor have I tried to play on battle.net (and I don't intend to) so no clue as to on-line gameplay quality.

If I missed something, I'll make sure I duly note it! :D

It would be the best if you created a new thread on that information on the Gaming sub-forum, as the people there would be the most interested in that information. Still, thanks for the info, I liked D2 and might play it again sometime.

You know for these prices... just get a new one.
I paid mine which is new (see signature) for ~1600$ Canadian. I was able to call to order my laptop with a little less than I want (on purpose to negotiate), easily negotiated a price just by asking for a price, and he give me free upgrades which matches what I really wanted (160GB HDD, Intel Wireless-N, DVD burner and more). All this with a 3 year warranty on site service (which is very good by the way).
Also I did not have to pay for Blutooth, modem, webcam and finger print reader which I don't care about. (Web cam was removed because it's a Creative one, and I know their drivers are crapastic.)
