I seriously think that your system is busted. You have WAAAAYYYY too much (yea, I didn't say 'many'... because I can't even count them!!!) problems. Please contact Dell support and report all your problems. A system should simply work. All your problem are seriously not normal!

If a system re-install does not fix all your problem, than the system is busted.
I am dropping my support to you, until your system is up and running. There is just too much to handle, here.

Agreed. Format and clean install the basics and hold to see how things are running before layering on the bells and whistles.

Haha, i take it that the brightness issues is just my crappy luck. I wasnt sure if the IGP driver on the downloads page was special or something.

Ill try a clean install even though i really didnt want to do that. it seems like most of these are just driver/software related issues, not hardware ones. itll be a few days since my install disc isnt with me. until then ill try uninstalling the old drivers and see what that gets me.

    Hi,

Right click on the device in device manager->update device manager->browse my computer for driver software->let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Choose Intel->Intel(R) 82567LM-2 Gigabit Network Connection.
    Worked for me.
    Regards,
    Vinu

Forgot to mention...NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M installed without problems. Installed the Dell driver.

this is freaking great...now that i uninstalled the new Intel graphics driver, everything works great, but no matter what i do to install the older one, IT WONT LOAD THE DRIVERS! this sucks...now i have a funky resolution and uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing...they have an exclamation point by their listings in the device manager.

what do you mean it wont load the drivers? give us more information. but i am completely with all the previous suggestions to start this over. it sounds like you either have some mobo hardware problems, or something corrupted when you installed.

Very strange. But don't worry about it... If you run Vista, you don't need it as Vista one is not only faster, better, easier to use, and user-friendly. DCP Connection Manager is just an alternative interface of what Windows offers you. Nothing more. It's a waist of energy to try to install it, in my opinion.

However, a problem is a problem. This is a very strange problem. I suggest to contact Dell tech support (phone or chat), and report the problem. They might have a solution.

it doesnt offer anything useful? i never tried to install it previously because it wasnt yet compatible with the intel cards. and im actually running win7, but i figured id take a look at it.

and im on with dell about it now, they seem clueless. it doesnt even make sense for it to care or check what the processor is... chipset? maybe. motherboard? maybe. but processor?...
