I've no complaints about my E6400's palm rest which feels quite solid. The speakers aren't good but make sure you get the new driver + SRS control panel which give a bit more control over the output. As for the display, I run my LG WXGA+ panel at about half brightness. This is fine for indoors use and the colours are much better. Full brightness is only needed if sitting outside in the sunshine.

Hmmm, Dell still hasn't sent me the email with all of the exchange information yet. What the heck? I was going to call back and request Vista 64 bit anyway, but I'm assuming now I'll have to figure out what's going on as well...

Well, I never really had any issues with latency in the first place. I did have some sound skipping, but that was solved with the new 8.8 Intel drivers.

Does DPC latency checker show any red bars for you?

On an unrelated note, if you look at the bottom left and right corners from an extreme angle, do you notice the backlight (or whatever it is, screen?)? Its not totally flush on the bottom left and right for me, but it is on the other parts (except for the top when you look from an extreme low angle). i think it makes a bit of a flashlight effect. just curious. its kind of annoying but nothing to worry about.

It's easy to install, maybe just a tad more challenging than installing RAM, since you have to push in a tiny antenna cable connector onto the socket on the board. When you order the part, you may want to get the one that comes with a screw. The screw is necessary to secure the board.

Dell provides the service manuals on their support site, and you can read the detailed instructions for the BT installation.

Here's the service manual. it's worth a read even if you don't plan to do any servicing.

in addition to this, i just installed the newest IGP (intel graphics) drivers, and now my backlight is acting funny. it doesnt seem to go high at all, and when i try to turn it up or down, the little animation doesnt move up or down (the blue bar is just stuck there), but the screen does get brighter and darker (albeit not a lot).

should i not have installed the newest intel graphics drivers?

have you checked what latency you are getting with dpc latency checker? Installing the 8.8 drivers direct from intel should solve any outstanding latency issues. if this doesn't solve it, it means you have another driver misbehaving. try disabling things one at a time until you can get the latency to drop back into the green. let us know what readings dpclat gives you.
