On my machine, Dell fixed the problem. I think the fix is to add padding.... but I don't feel like removing them to see. The panel does require some level of force to slide out. So I guess they tight it up for Canada Latitude E6400's.

    1. Perhaps investigate any sleep state settings in BIOS and then look to the OS/Control Panel for respective power management setup options.

    2. The smart-card reader slot (left side) has no insert. The PC Card/Express Card slot (right side) and the Secure Digital memory-card reader slot (front) both have blank inserts.

    3. No such issue here.

I have a very minor amount of play between the chassis and cover plate at the bottom right when looking at the bottom. It will 'click' if you tap the cover plate into contact with the chassis, but this does not happen during usage. From reading other reports, this appears to be a feature of the cover plate mounting design that varies with individual build tolerances. The most severe instance seems to be in combination with a warped chassis such that the unit does not sit flat and tips down and clicks during usage. If your unit sits flat and does not click during usage, it's a non-issue, imo.

I had that problem before. I think it's a driver issue. If you're on Dell's drivers, try uninstalling the whole IDT thing. The windows drivers are much better, anyway. If you like the IDT drivers for some reason, uninstall them, restart, and reinstall them. That should fix it.

Latest IDT drivers works perfectly with me. I know Kazaam (btw, what an awful movie that was), everything is perfect on my side.

It truly was terrible lol. Well, i guess i have some kind of conflict. since i almost always use high performance, and when i dont, i rarely play audio/video, its not a huge issue. but itd be nice to get figured out.

"MCI COMMAND HANDSET" error message upon restart or shut down.

I've been getting this off and on and I realized after uninstalling the Roxio Creator software that comes pre-loaded on the Latitude E6400, the error message vanishes. I reinstalled the software, and well, the error message came back. I then uninstalled it again for good and haven't gotten the error message again. This is with both Roxio Creator 9.0 DE and 10.0 DE. Dell needs to know about this and should come out with a fix, yes?

I didn't notice until just now, the top edge of the lid (exterior/non-screen side) is not perfectly flat. I can feel and see the lumpiness, is this imperfection considered a defect? Is yours perfectly straight?

This area is relatively thin plastic covering the various antennae, webcam and microphone.

If I squeeze hard I can feel some lumpiness inside, but the outside looks flat. If the outside looks uneven then it hasn't been assembled correctly.
