Er...I pretty much installed the OS in that way anyway. I'm a little confused...how would a driver issue somehow be related to a HDD corruption issue, which I'm pretty sure isn't happening...?

I never said that. I said if your hardware is fully functional OR your HDD is NOT corrupted, then your system should THEORETICALLY be working fine.

As long as you do NOT hit your laptop by putting it on the table strongly, putting it your bag, and let go your bag directly on the floor, playing Frisbee with your system, unplug the power and battery while your system is in use. Your HDD should be fine, else expect it to have issues with the OS, programs, or drivers, or even loss of data on extreme cases.

I guess I'm a little confused as to what you were trying to help with with then...as I already did the clean install essentially using that list. That is the only issue (albeit minor) that I'm having so far with this new E6400. What's your audio driver situation then?

Also, oddly enough...after installing some new Windows Updates in addition to that Dell Systems Update driver, on resume I didn't get the error plugged in or not.

I had this problem when I install Vista just by installing the driver in any way I felt like and programs, and did several conflicts. with my wireless network and audio (this was before we get SRS sound options with the sound card drivers). Since I followed that list after a re-install, my system is perfect.

Just wondering if anyone has used any bluetooth headsets with any ip telephony software with just the inbuilt bluetooth?

We bout 10 E6400's here at work as a pilot to replace desktops with laptops. After we had thought about it we added in IP telephony into the mix, and as we use Cisco, we have finnally been given access to Cisco IP Communicator, and it works great. Even on the wireless, the sound quality was surprisingly good, until you start walking between AP's which is understandable as I highly doubt the Cisco software was ever designed to be used on a wireless network and then walking around and changing AP's :D

So the next step is to get Bluetooth headsets that will replace horrible corded headsets. We did get a trial Plantronics 510 and it seems fine, but for some reason you need to use the bluetooth dongle provided with it for the unit to use the Remote Ring and Remote Answer features, which is stupid if you ask me. The E6400 has bluetooth, why should I have to plug in another bluetooth dongle to gain these extra features? Yes we have tried installing the PerSonoCall software, which Plantronics say will enable these features without having to use the supplied dongle, but it just doesnt seem to want to work?

Anyway, has anyone else tried any bluetooth headsets with any ip telephony software?

Guys and gals, I just created this thread which you might find interesting. Feel free to participate!

I thought about starting that discussion here but since most people here use this thread to discuss problems they are having and how to solve them, I thought it would be best to keep that separated.

I have the plantronics 510USB Bluetooth headset and it works flawlessly on the latitude E6400! I really like it. I use magic-jack VOIP and it works well as long as I have a full connection at 54MBps...

I use a Plantronics Voyager 520 with my E6400 which has the Dell BT 370 card. I use the handsfree profile so that I may answer and redial from the headset. I assume that's just what you are looking for.

In case you aren't aware, there's a Vista BT upgrade pack available on Dell's site to add new features to Vista. I don't know if there's anything for XP.

Cool, back in at the time I tried it, the PowerTop utility failed to install. Cool to know.
