Actually, I did. I went into RMclock and unchecked all the multipliers except the 1/2 fsb 6x one. I did a test yesterday with all multipliers checked and only got around 4.8-5 hours of usage. I confirmed the time through windows task manager :p

My guess is that you can easily sell that SSD for $250 or more, so, yeah, it's a very good deal.

That SSD is a $269 option over the 250GB 7200 rpm hard disk.

I just turned off the bluetooth radio in the BIOS and unloaded the software via msconfig. A bit clunky, I know, but I've no need for it at the moment -- and when I do I'll just re-enable stuff.

Yes you did get a very good one.

Are you satisfied with that resolution on a 14 incher? (1280x800)

An update regarding my overheat issue:

A tech was here earlier to replace both the motherboard and the heatsink. I now have the CPU temperatures at 31/33 idling (that's around 8 or 10 degrees less than before). The first time I played a game the GPU temperatures reached 100 quickly, suggesting that nothing had changed in the GPU temperatures. The tech says it takes a while for the thermal pads to make proper contact and I should heat up the GPU (not too much) for a while before drawing conclusions. I have been gaming at 50% clock speeds to do this, and the load temperatures have been decreasing over time.

And in fact, now the 100% clock load temperatures are "only" 95º. Perhaps I will finally have this working properly in a few days.

One drawback: the new fan is almost as noisy at 3000 rpm as at 4800. It is probably not exactly the same as before, because it can go at 3600 rpm and 4400 rpm, something that I did not notice before.

It is a shame that I can't get my *perfect* system, but one has to draw the line somewhere. If the overheating is gone, that's it. The fan is most of the time off anyway, and when it's on it's usually at full speed.

What are you complaining about? This machine isn't really meant for gaming, and as long as your GPU temps are below 100 C your okay. There's no reason to freak out as long as it stays there. It's not overheating until it actually goes above 100 C and then affects preformance.

I think that you are being too nitpicky! Maybe you want to install rivatuner and downclock your chip?
