Which "docking" solution would someone recommend for the E6400 if they simply wanted to add a DVI port to the unit?

You don't need a docking station for that. Just an adapter cable from DisplayPort to DVI. The Dell Accessories store is unfortunately the only place where you can obtain one - yet. The DisplayPort is some kind of a future standard, Dell are just early adopters.

Well ... I tried the USB port fix. Oddly Vista seemed to reinstall the USB drivers as fast as I deleted them.

I rebooted and all seemed well. Until a few minutes ago when I got a BSOD while syncing my iPod. The device driver that caused the BSOD was the USB drivers.

Hopefully Dell has some new drivers for 64 bit Vista soon. BTW: Is there an "automatic update" utility for the Dell drivers, similar to what HP has? If so, I can't find it.

I may have to re-image this machine at some point to see if it helps at all.

The windows XP version of the system software specifically mentions the inclusion of these two Microsoft Hotfixes:

Perhaps I will (re)install this system software. I had a BSOD earlier today when i tried to use the web cam (which is a USB device).

Hi, Im new here and just re-ordered a decent specs of the E6400, P9500 processor, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 160M, 250GB 7200RPM Hardisk, 1440 LED LCD, 9 Cell.

Mine old E6400 was recalled due to many reason.
Sadly I have no choice rather than dell due to my company is buying.

The sales didn't inform me that mine comes standard with keyboard with lighting. However in the order statement its stated X886C Internal Keyboard (English). Is it the one? What your keyboard part no? Thanks.

Should I stick to E6400 or take the new E4300?

Does ANYONE know how to get the volume up on the E6400? I tried to listen to a movie on an airplane tonight and couldn't hear anything. It's SO low.

Are there new sound drivers available for this laptop?

Airplanes are loud. I've had D830 cranked up to full blast (in a 90 seat plane with 10 people aboard), and basically I was the only person on the whole plane who could hear it.

I suspect you just have unrealistic expectations from a single small speaker.

I've been testing the battery life on the E6400 that I have.

With the LCD on full bore, WiFi on, "High Performance", keyboard lights on, someone persistent usage, pretty much anything I could think of...

The laptop still managed to net 4:07!

Granted, I wasn't playing any games...but still, that is the minimum battery life I can expect out of that laptop.

I love when my new notebooks WORST battery life beats my old laptop's BEST battery life by almost a full hour.
