interesting. I have both my D630 and the new M2400 setup side by side, and just by swapping my Skullcandy headphones back and forth, I think the M2400 sounds better playing the same audio

Anybody tried an external keyboard and mouse? I have the old Microsoft Bluetooth Desktop and I have no hotkey functionality on the keyboard. I assume the Dell drivers are overtaking the hotkeys on the keyboard but I didn't have this issue with my D630. I was wondering if anyone has used another kb/mouse combo that works well with the E6400? It's annoying not to be able to mute when people come into my office without having to click around.

I have the Logitech Wave keyboard and mouse combo hooked up to the E6500. I'm able to use the hotkeys on my keyboard without issue. But, I don't have the Control Point software on my machine (the IS department left them out, probably for the better).

Thanks for the tip with the cleartype calibration, but it didnt make any difference. Just to make it all clear, the explained bad picture for me is on the external display.

I suppose that you have tested your VGA out and has an acceptable quality?

I have got another tip to test geforce drivers instead, so I will try that now. (I now have the latest Dell drivers) But then i must belive that it must be a hardware issue, because the quality is significally worse than the VGA out on my other computers.

I might note that since I installed the latest graphics drivers from Intel.com, I have not once had the screen not turn back on after being in sleep mode.

Yes. My external display is acceptable. I've not used that utility in some time, but there may be a way to "tune" the external display. I'm not sure.

I order my Latitude E6400 today.
I will be getting it with Latitude-ON feature, and plan to do a review from the box to performance. This is my first machine, and I have high standards in computers, so we will see.

    Specs:
    - Latitude ON
    - Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26GHz)
    - Vista Business 64-bit
    - Color: Black
    - 14.1” UltraSharp™ Wide WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display
    - 4GB of RAM 2 Dimm
    - 90W power adapter (hopefully the new slim one)
    - NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M With Express Card
    - DVD Burner
    - 9Cell Battery
    - Backlight Keyboard
    - 160GB 5200RPM HDD
    - Intel® WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
    - 3 years Warranty, with 3 years NBD onsite service.
Anything wrong? I can still (24hours) edit it, I was told.

For 1699$ Canadian with promotion (original 2006$) before taxes

@ GoodBytes: Enjoy! Looks like an awesome line-up of hardware in that build.

I have configured one similarly, although from what I've been told it is better to upgrade the RAM on your own. Also, get the 5300 Intel Wifi--it's the same price as the 5100. I'm curious to hear how yours is--I keep waiting for you guinea pigs to fix all the kinks before I order mine. :)

I think you are seeing the inherent limitations to the VGA out. I've used it as high as 1920x1080 (1080i) on my M2400, and there are definite color bleeds and various clarity / color issues. I output to a 52" LCD TV, and I recall having some issues (though less pronounced) with a resolution as low as 1440x900.

I have since switched using the DisplayPort/HDMI, which also enables 1080p and 1080/24. And the output is pristine. No bleeds at all, pretty much perfect dot-to-dot display.
