I would prefer to do this, but I didn't have any luck finding a friend with the OEM or retail disc. Is there any other place I can find (or buy) the disc without a license?

This is flat incorrect. Dell's own policy provides for the 64 bit disc to be available, and if you talk with M$, or look at their legal stuff, they do mandate that both versions are supplied. Dell also does not need to provide you with another key, so they do NOT lose another version of vista. Having forced dell to provide me the disc, I can promise that another key was not sent, and the 32 bit key works fine enough.

I contacted dell support a couple weeks ago to see if they would send me the 64bit disc for vista ultimate, but according to that rep the only 64bit version of vista that dell supports is vista business. Has anyone had any luck getting dell to supply the 64bit disc for other versions?

My 6400 came with XP and I wiped the hard drive and loaded Vista along with the latest drivers on the Dell site. The wireless 'finder' button on the right side does absolutely nothing. I have the Intel 5300. What do I need besides the wireless install from the Dell site to get this button to do something? I assume it has some function as the computer arrives from the factory?

I believe there are settings for that button in the bios.

You won't be able to get it shipped with the computer no matter who it is. You would have to re-order.

What do you mean "re-order"? You mean "order" the 64-bit disc after my system arrives?
