I discovered a new fault this morning:
In the device manager, my Quadro 160m has an error:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Does anybody else have this problem?

    New nVIDIA driver

I installed and have been using since yesterday the nVIDIA ForceWare X 176.68. It's WHQL certified and available for 32 and 64 bit OSs.

After John's comment about the new touchpad driver, I installed the one for the E4300 but I've not noticed any difference so far. I can only say that I prefer Synaptics touchpads over Alps's.

    Hey Vikram,
I installed the E4300 Touchpad driver and set the Touch Sensitivity all the way to Light Touch. This way my touchpad seems to work quite fine.

I'll try the NVidia driver right now.

Nice, the driver worked! Thank you very much! :)
I was afraid my card suddenly crashed or something.

I enabled the wireless catcher in BIOS, yet the button still does nothing. I'm just wondering if it does anything as the laptops are loaded from the factory. Since I loaded my 6400 from scratch, I don't know if it's a piece of software that I'm missing or if the button has no functionality at the current time.

I think you have to have a Dell Wifi card. I do not think the Wifi Catcher works with the Intel cards (5100/5300).

No, that isn't why. I'm pretty sure you need the ControlPoint Connection Manager.

For the button to work, you need to install the 1397 or 1510 driver as well as the 825xx Network Utility Application.

    Hi Guys,

How's everyone? This is my first time to own a Dell Laptop since I got curious about the new Latitude E6400. So I got one but I must say its never been a smooth sailing since I got this laptop. I've contacted the Dell Tech Support three times to address my graphics card problem since its pretty sluggish. I am currently running on Windows Vista 32 bit OS.

Here is the basic specification of my system

    Dell Latitude E6400
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 at 2.53GHz
    4GB DDR2-800mhz
    250 GB 7200rpm HD
NVidia Quadro NVS 160m (256MB) graphics card
    Intel WiFi Link 5300AGN
    Intel 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection
    +++++

My first problem was my graphics card. I noticed the sluggishness of my graphics whenever I play simple game like DOTA (it lags a lot). So I ran the diagnostic tools and I got this error message:

    the error code is 5300:0D23"
Video_No BIOS Support for SMI Interface Function

The Dell technician said I need to have my graphics card replaced which means its my whole graphics board since the graphics chip is mounted on the motherboard. (BTW, I am still getting that error message). Any thoughts?

My 2nd problem which I am not sure if any of you noticed this.

Whenever I ran the Intel Processor ID Utility, it says that

The expected speed is 2.53GHZ but the reported numbers are 0.61 GHz on each processor.

System Bus reports expected speed at 1066 MHz but the actual number is 380MHz on each processor.

I thought the number is a little way off...shouldn't be getting at least close to 2.53 Ghz since I pay for it.

    Experts, any advice?

    Thanks in advance

    ++++

Actually I feel that Quadro or (cad-oriented cards in general) is not meant for gaming. Wikipedia says there is a difference between gaming gfx cards (Geforce) and cad oriented ones like Quadro and FireGL.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_Quadro#GeForce

Therefore I'm not surprised when there's sluggishness when playing games with this card.

But then again, I seldom play games (mostly consoles ones if I do play), so correct me if I'm wrong. Just a thot.
