Got this badboy yesterday and after the inspection you can surely enough bet I'll be using the outlet again. Not a NOTICEABLE flaw at all. I'll be doing a clean install in a a few after I play with it a little first.

Edit: There was a very small gap above the right set of USB ports between the lower and upper assembly. On further inspection I found that I was missing (2?) screw(s). Is the removable disc drive supposed to be securely screwed in?

Taht's a standard Dell annoyance if I understand it right. Those screws don't come with the drive. None of the E6500/6510s have come with it.

Can you do a quick test to see if your laptop does what mine was doing?

With the Hardware Acceleration enabled in Flash settings (default option, so if you haven't disabled it, it's enabled), can you open up any youtube video at any resolution and play it full screen to see if you see something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc5ZD-Pj1Hw

    Thanks a ton.

Dell doesn't include the optical drive lock screw with any system that uses a laptop optical drive. Don't worry it won't fall out. You need to unlock it with the button under/side the optical drive (not the eject button, the other one, that is harder to press) to be able to pull it out. The screw is just there, if you don't want your employees (let's say you are an IT), pulling out the drive itself and put toasts inside, instead.

The advantage of this setup, is that you get you be able to easily change the optical drive if it breaks or want an upgrade (let's say blu-ray drive), later on.

Dell shipped the ODD screw loose in zip-loc with my new E6410... but not with my new E6400.

You can ask for the screw... probably the sales rep or who ever at the factory was nice to add it, or it's an error (probably the next laptop from you had requested the screw, and it went to you instead)

I watched a HD starcraft II video and there was no flickering or tearing.

Thanks for responding everyone. I called Dell and as funny as it sounds to request screws I surely did that.

The i7-620/NVS 3100M combo sure is a little warm though. I played around with the different power settings but I'm not sure if that made any diff at all. So what tool could someone recommend to monitor clocks and temps of the cpu and gpu in realtime?

On another note: How much do you think I could get for a refurbished 6510 i5-520, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, NVS 3100, 1600x900, 9 cell?

Probably not. :) It was a web order that got kitted and built by the system. The system was shipping ODD screws then.
