    Hi there,

i just got my new M4400 and am happy so far APART that my RGB-LED screens colors seems to be a little washed out compared to the one i had before (another M4400 with RGB-LED).

In addition to that the screen bleeds so that black is almost completley grey o_O ... is this anywhere near reasonable or normal?

Oh wow...that's terrible! Send this pic to your Dell rep and get them to put a new screen in.

    LOL good one!

Especially because they didn't have the part and ordered it so he's comming on friday now :D.

I got it from the outlet, no problems with warranty!

Outlet or not shouldn't matter. Hope the new one is better. The 2CCFL (shares the same hardware-id, is actually the same panel with only a diff beacklight) also has a bleed but not this bad. Is it also visible on normal screens with lower 50-60% brightness? I've gone through 3 panels trying to fix this but it seems it's just a "design flaw" in this model. If that's the case with the RGB-LED, case being it is essentialy the same screen, i'm surprised i haven't heard others about this

let us know how the new screen looks!

    I will.

Generally speaking I was impressed after seeing this RGB-LED Screen for the first time.

I tought - oops? Is this CCFL? Where are my colors and is this bleeding?

I checked it twice but it has a glass surface and it does say that I have an RGB-LED Display in booth the selling page and DELL's Support-Hotline.

I heard from someone else in a german forum that it is the same for his model. Well, we will see how the new display looks a like...

Didn't I read somewhere that the RGB-LED Displays don't have Background-Bleeding anymore? Well my previous model didn't have it so I guess it can have bleeding indeed but it isnt a must.

CCFL and LED screens have their light sources above, below or beneath the screen, diffusing the light across the screen. In RGBLED screens, the light sources are usually positioned directly behind the screen. I haven't opened the screen of my M4400, but I guess it is the same or similar there (read the EDIT below!). So it might be that some of the your LEDs aren't lighting up, for whatever reason.

EDIT: trueserve pointed out that on notebook RGBLED screens, the backlight is positioned at the bottom, whereas it is positioned behind the screen on desktop RGBLED monitors.
