Notebook RGBLED is also at the bottom, which took a while to develop before coming to market. Desktop RGBLED is behind.

This backlight unevenness is basically normal for this 15" model. My first one was as bad as the posted picture. My second is almost as bad on a completely black display, but if any light passes through, the contrast difference makes me percieve nearly uniform black (except for the edges). When editing photos, it is a non-issue - contrast is high enough that all black looks black.

Yeah your right its not allright for me to get this upset about such a little thing. My GF cooled me down allready ;) ...

I'll eagerly await my new screen now. The problem is that I have exams by next week and won't be back till friday. I might have it replaced under my dad "supervising" it or need to take it with me :).

My specs are (most important ones):

    T9400 with 2.53GHZ
    4GB (2x2) DDR2-800 SO-DIMM
    NVIDIA QuadroFX 770M 512 MB DDR3

Well i had one before and the backlight was indeed better than on this one. Well see when i have got a new one then if its normal for this kind of display :-/.

A Dell technician changed the screen on my Precision M4400, while doing this I asked him for the exchange... on my Precision M6400 I did the exchange by myself... I don't think Dell can will avoid the warranty, they probably can't find out, that you exchanged it.

Here is a description with more comments about warrenty etc.:

    Hey guys!

For your information, here's a picture of a full-screen black image displayed on my Dell SXPS 1640 with RGBLed screen.

The backlight bleed in the picture is a bit of an exaggeration compared to how it's perceived with the eye.

    Any thoughts on this?

When actually editing photos etc., it's less of a problem because the contrast makes the black look black indeed (as stated before by trueserve), but still.. i'd imagined RGBLed as a solution to these kind of problems...
