Yes, he works for Dell. Though, he really should get his description updated.

I would guess that it will work, but not at 1866MHz. Why do you need such highly clocked RAM?

The difference was $10, figured might as well get the faster one?

Edit: Trying to future-proof technology. I know, I know, it never works, but if I could just upgrade once and not worry about it until I switch laptops, that would be idea.

Yeah...Canada gets the short end of the stick most times >_>

Mind you, IIRC they're having some kind of -500$ promotion or something for the launch of the M4600 so if you remove that it's a 1500$+ machine. Still far below our starting price of 2.1k but it's not 1000 different.

    Well, I couldn't get 500$ off this morning, ended up buying a M18X (i7/2x6970M/750GBHDD/8GB RAM/etc) for 2k :)

I thought about doing the same but I can't leave that IPS display.

AFAIK, the M18x display is going to be the same old crappy TN. If they had even an RGBLED option I would bite... But RGBLED AND IPS?? Count me in!

Well, after the 8740w with the best screen up to date, I can totally understand you. In fact, I'd do the same thing but the Precision pricing in Canada is beyond me. And since I can't have the best business class machine, will at least get the best perf/connectivity/features/etc minus the screen. The race after perfection goes on. :)

Thanks for the link. So the W-LED display in M6600 has 72% gamut - the W-LED in M4600 with 60% gamut seesm to be the same as in M4500, E5520, E6510/20... And that is an excellent display too.

So must wait if Dell made the IPS display right - need good sRGB presentation too.

    Best, Walter
