Only if things work perfectly. If something goes wrong, well, I don't want to think about it...

Firepro m5950 in Dell Precision is GDDR5 so i think that have same memory clock speed of 6770m.
    900MHz is a typical DDR3 speed.

Notebookcheck is being inconsistent and I believe slightly wrong. The inconsistency comes from how they describe the memory speed: you can either do it with or without the inclusion of the extra factor of 2 from DDR, but what they did was without for the M5950 and with for the 6770M. The wrong part is that if you include the factor of 2, the 6770M speed should be 1800MHz, not 1600MHz -- the base speed is the same 900MHz.

tl;dr: Notebookcheck is wrong, the clock speeds are the same.

    And so does the HP.

That's the essence of my question about the new Dell right there. If the Dell M4600 has a "slice battery" that can extend the (already outstanding, if the figures given earlier are accurate) battery life, then the Dell Precision M4600 is what I'm getting!

Hi - first time poster. I would relly like to know (Havotek?) if I will get built in 5.1 Surround sound out with the HDMI output. Is there any form of digital out port? I am happy with all the other specs but cannot find out the Audio output formats Dolby HD? Would be a shame to have BluRay and not the sound to go with it. Thanks for any info on this.
Greatly appreciated. Will order M6600 - 4000M Nvidia card soon.

Looking to configure my Dell Precision M4600 with a 750 GByte, 7200rpm hard drive but it's not available. I thought a 750 GByte, 7200rpm hard drive was offered with the Dell Precision M4600.

When will the 750 GByte, 7200rpm hard drive be available?

Is that for the 9-cell or 6-cell battery?

Certainly. However, some of Dell's Ubuntu installation include proprietary software packages (like device drivers), which are not part of the standard Ubuntu distribution.

Wouldn't it be great if Dell got an Optimus-enabled driver for the M6600/Linux?

    cheers,
    Werner

The numbers I posted are for the M6600 with a 9-cell, 97WHr, battery installed with Optimus turned on running MobileMark 2007 Battery Life. With Optimus turned off in BIOS and running the same benchmark the M6600 has 348 minutes, 5.8 hrs.
