RGB IPS is very tempting! Does it make sense to buy the M4600 to just watch movies or would that be a waste of money? I do not play any games or do any cpu intensive tasks but even then with all the basic stuff and the screen upgrade, the total cost can go above $1800. I would still have to get the aftermarket memory upgrade. If it is not worth it, what laptop screen comes second? I just want the best movie watching experience.

You should consider the Studio XPS instead. Your wallet will thank you.

Do you mean the XPS 15 or XPS 17? I know XPS 15 has B+RG LED. Is that the second best option compared to the RGB IPS on M4600? There is nothing in between?

    Hi,

I just order today M4600 with IPS screen. But when i see the dell order email send to me, it stated 15.6 FHD (1920 x 1080) Wide View Anti-Glare RGB LED Back-Lit Display, Dell Mobile Precision M4600. Is this the IPS screen or it is something else?

    My EDD is 06/16/2011.

The Sager NP5160 can be ordered from XoticPC with the 95% gamut matte 1080p screen which is basically a matte version of the XPS 15's screen.

So is the Lenovo Thinkpad T520 and W520 FHD 95% gamut screen.

    Yep it's the IPS.

Yes it is! Here in The Netherlands it doesn't even say it is an IPS screen.

havoctex, I reported this to Dell before but slightly odd bug:

on my order status it says

317-6076 Intel Core i7-2920XM Extreme Quad Core 2.30GHz 8MB, Dell Mobile Precision M4600/M6600

Although that should be 2.50Ghz - the 2920XM is 2.5 not 2.3 (don't know why it's scaring me like that)
