I don't believe that the M6600 was ever made with an i7-740 or an Nvidia 330M.
Did you mean to post this in some other forum thread other than the M6600 Owner's thread?

Yeah, I bent the rules since there is not any activity for 9 months in the Vostro 3700 thread. I figured someone could answer it pretty quickly over here. I guess I'll get slapped now.

We do have two M6600 in the office.....and two Vostro 3700...

To answer your last question first, my IPS is extremely nice so far from what I've seen. No corner tint at all. I haven't had time yet to compare it side by side with my Dell M6500 RGB LED screen to see if it is noticeably better or not.

The SSD is in fact very simple. I've got at least 6 or 7 machines with them in. A couple main differences between HDDs is that before I install, I plug it in to a different machine and upgrade the firmware to the latest version. This can also be done after the operating system is installed though.

Next, while it is possible to run them in a RAID array, I personally don't, although I've had many HDDs that I ran in RAID arrays. I have customers that run high end SSDs in RAID arrays though.

You want to go into the BIOS and change the SATA mode from RAID (which it is set to by default) to AHCI. If you forget to do this before installing the OS, there is a workaround to fix it...

Note that with an SSD you don't want to, and don't need to defrag ever.

Important to buy the right SSD. Crucial M4, or Corsair Force or ... Just go on Newegg and look at which ones have the most reviews and which ones have 5 star reviews with lots and lots of reviewers. OCZ has really shot themselves in the foot in the past year from my experience and also from what I've read with having major problems. I would not buy another one, after starting out having bought at least two or three Vertex 2s and Vertex 3s. Too many bad drives and too many BSODs because of bad firmware...

Hours of work is okay to lose, but there is no reason to lose months of work. Backups are important with SSDs just as they are important with HDDs. Speaking of this, use Dropbox for your most important backups, particularly if you don't have any formal backup method in place. Dropbox is incredible. While it is free for 2GB, which is all most folks ever need, I pay a small yearly price for 50GB.

Thanks for your understanding. Once you start down a slippery path, others start to follow and...
Perhaps you could start a new thread someplace, or call support if you still have it.

That's what I'm saying, I did call Dell support and they said if it does not shut down it's OK.

I did start a new thread about the Vostro 3700 last week, but I received no responses.

Perhaps try any other thread outside of this one. I believe this one is specifically dedicated to M6600 related questions, comments and issues.
If every M6600 owner that takes advantage of this thread started asking questions about every other machine they own besides their M6600, I'm sure you understand what this currently very helpful thread would become.
I personally have read through every one of the 2000 plus posts in this thread and it was very helpful. If this post were polluted with lots of non M6600 stuff, it would be terrible for all of us that want to communicate specifically about M6600s.

I did start a thread outside of this one dude. All I wanted was a general response to a CPU runing within 5 degrees of the max.

    are you the moderator here?

Have had the M6600 with the IPS panel for about 30 minutes now. The only way to describe it is beautiful. It is right out of the box and is uncalibrated and untweaked. Even like this it is much more than I was expecting.

    Just wow.

And am I correct in assuming your brightness adjustment clearly works Bokeh?

Bokeh, your signature says you also own an M6500 with an RGB LED, as I do. So now we both have IPS panels as well. I didn't take the time to compare them side by side and it sounds like you are much more of a professional in regards to colors than I am. (I don't know how to calibrate or anything.) Is there a noticeable difference between your M6500 RGB LED and the PremierColor IPS on this M6600?

Also Bokeh, since you have the same video card and panel as me, after you calibrate it, would you share the profile with me please?
