I went through a number of refurbished as well, and there policy is online.

Dell Outlet: Which type of product is right for you? | Dell

However with my issue, I received a S&D instead of a Refurbished (what I ordered). Dell corrected that mistake and all I had to do is switch the video cards.

Now though, the other machine has issues with the LCD (few dead/stuck pixels) and the the KB backlight (the number 8 is really bright while YUGH are dim). Both are not that noticeable, but I will be putting in a ticket for it.

Mine was very obvious even in a dark room (no lights on ). If I knew more about what actually controls the backlight I could form a theory on why it does it. Does the board directly control the backlight or does it just tell the panel what brightness to display? Maybe it uses a duty cycle which the panel can only match by turning off the backlight completely every so often. I really wish I had taken a few videos, you couldn't miss it.

Why not swap them as you did the GPU? Are they worn in some way?

The KB is better on the other unit, but worn.

The LCD can be swapped - good point on that. I guess I will do that tonight :p

yeah. I have read their policy before. One of our "previously ordered new" should have been classified as a refurb, being 2 months old, it was not new anymore, and had visible wear. One of our refurbs had dents, and should have been a scratch and dent instead. My last M6600 is stickered as a refurb, but looks brand new and better than our "previously ordered new" M6600s did. I used to think the "previously ordered new " was the way to go, but I'm not sure about that anymore. they seem a bit lax in categorizing them.

What screen brand is WTPWR p/n?
Searched it here and couldn't realize if it could be one of all 3 types or deffinetly a CMO screen.

I have that exact same display and I can't reproduce it. A few questions:

    1. What video card do you have? You may have mentioned it but I don't recall.
    2. If an Nvidia card does it flicker when you disable optimus?

Do you have a touchscreen? If so you're out of luck as it sits in front of the panel. If not, someone else will have to answer.

Are you referring to the management capabilities of vPro? If so, press F12 when prompted during startup then select the bottom-most option. My original M6600 had it but my new one does not. It was supposed to and I am waiting to hear back from the CS rep whom apparently only works 2 days a week.
