I need some advice. My replacement is missing vPro, which I may be able to live without, but it irks me since my current laptop is technically less capable than what I paid for. I emailed the CS rep who processed the replacement and she is not responding. Futhermore I found that she closed the support request without even confirming receipt of the new laptop. I sent her another email asking her to reopen the case by the end of business today. I emailed her supervisor on a prior occasion and they never replied.

So, the question: Whom should I contact? Just call back in and play the CS rep lottery?

Maybe I'm making this out to be bigger than it is, but she refused to let me make any changes when she reordered yet she removed a feature that was already present.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Could M6600 owners please report here:

    1) whether you do or do not use your fingerprint reader (and if so what you think, how long it takes, etc.), and/or

    2) If you ordered an M6600 without the fingerprint reader, whether you notice any additional flex or different material in the alternative palm rest installed when no fingerprint reader is configured?

Could users please answer questions or share info about 1 and/or 2 above?

    Thanks.

3000M, it's observed (visible with camera, not very much with naked eye, but can be reason of my issues) with and without Optimus, with and without DPST in Intel driver settings, I have seen it from beginning starting from BIOS A03 or A02 (earlier with CMO), currently with BIOS A07 too, I have tried various graphic drivers too.

no touchscreen, it's difficult to show it, but I was trying to make some pictures: http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...0712-m6600-owners-thread-298.html#post8195409 . If there is any solution for it, I will maybe want to try it...

Almost, If I understand correctly ASF was before AMT and vPro. In the System Setup Menu Options document about BIOS options I can see:

System Management in the System Configuration

Allows you to control the systems management mechanism. The options are:

    Disabled
    DASH/ASF 2.0

    Default Setting: DASH/ASF 2.0

I don't have it, even after disabling AMT in the Ctrl+P BIOS in the hwinfo64 in the SMBIOS DMI I see info "Intel ASF Status: Enabled"

    how to disable it ?

That could explain our conflicting results. I have an M8900. I wonder if anyone has flickering issues with the LG panel and the Nvidia cards? Maybe it's an M8900 only issue and the issue you have is an Nvidia only issue.

Hopefully someone can recommend a good, full matte panel.

I'm afraid I'm not sure. HWINFO64 claims the ME is enabled on mine and it clearly isn't. It also claims ASF is enabled. My understanding is that ASF offers basic remote control (power on/off, alerts etc.) while the vPro option is required for full IP KVM type access.

I was thinking about ATI, but there is no switching ability available in any notebook series (even option in BIOS, which will allow to select card until next reboot). If somebody will implement it, I will be definitely interested (this is "nice to have" feature) :D

OK, I appreciate it. I hope, that somebody will be able to explain it more (provide link to some doc or something)...

I haven't found any as of yet. A few pages (maybe 10 now) someone posted a link to something on another laptop that was very similar.

Talk about passing the buck, this lady never wanted to help me from the beginning. This was her reply:

"Sorry for the inconvenience. The right department to contact regarding your issue with your replacement order is the technical department now so that they can diagnose the issue & process replacement if needed."

hmmm, I'm tracking this thread since months and haven't seen anything related to ASF in M6600 (excluding my question of course)

PS. I appreciate Mano's help, but still for now 0:3 for Dell (0 resolved, 3 submitted) :(
