New Casing and LVDS Cables are required. So far they are hard to find as spare parts besides from the Dell Spare Parts Store (which are very expensively priced and almost all refurbish labelled parts too).

That's an expensive hobby. :) Hardly look at who's a newbie or oldie :D . It's the content and respond that counts.

Looks like ur building on your own from parts ? It's almost impossible to source it here in Malaysia.

Tried modding of the heat-sink by sticking more copper plates on the existing m6600 ? Looking for photos and guides.

Hello all, new to this site but a Dell laptop/desktop and Precision fan for many years. Just received my brand new M6600, I love it!

I have one question, I hope this is the right place to ask. When I hover over a corner of my IE browser window (I think I have seen it other places too), some sort of Windows split utility appears. How do I remove it, it doesn't seem to have any identifying information when I right click on it?

Here is a picture. Thanks so much if you can help!

It's this Dell Premier Color application (it should have it's icon in tray). As far as I remember it is possible to turn off this additional icon by altering configuration of this program; uninstallation is not necessary, though I found this application distorting window management and removed it altogether.

Anyone here in this thread that has nightmare experience with "google apps free - standard edition" ?

Strange, now you brought this up. I have a m6600. The PremierColor tool must be hard-coded with m4600 in the menu. Here's my screen cap.

Anyone has m4600 shown on a m6600 machine PremierColor app?

Does your Hard Drive LED light constantly flicker on and off? Mine never stops doing this – ever. It continues to do it when no programs are running. It continues to do it when Process Explorer indicates that there is no process activity at all. It even continues to do it in Safe Mode. The Hard Drive LED light constantly flickers on and off for hours and hours no matter what.

Does your Hard Drive LED light always flicker on and off in this way?

I plan to buy a new SSD (a Samsung 830, or an Intel 520 or 320) and reinstall the OS and drivers. Perhaps that will fix this. On the other hand, several technicians have told me that there are many simple mistakes (beyond my understanding) that could be made when wiring the power for the video card and the hard drive, for instance, that would cause this problem - in which case a new hard drive and fresh OS install would not solve the problem.

Do you have any experience with or thoughts on this matter? Know anything about the Hard Drive LED light literally constantly flickering on and off as described in the first paragraph above?

Does anyone have the 900p screen?

I just had dell replace it and it still looks like **** I'm no screen expert but this is by far one of the worst ones I've seen. Color/contrast/etc is good, but it looks like I'm looking thought a window screen at the monitor...

    Even my $90 20in 900x1600 doesn't have this issue...

The only thing that comes remotely close to this is my $500 800x600 DLP projector that is set to 8ft...

    :(
