I replaced them both as a unit. I didn't see a point in swapping digitizers. I made sure to calibrate it when done.

I believe this is what the A01 version is supposed to address. Unfortunately mine did not, but it was labeled as an A00 with the last 0 changed to a 1 by hand and a QC sticker. It's possible it wasn't updated properly.

Scott, do you know the cable that allow to connect the LP173WF2 120Hz 3D from Alienware into M6600?

90% NTSC color gamut. It should drop in but Scott could give you a more concise answer.

False, that's why they are called opinions. An unproven fact is called a hypothesis. If your camera isn't capturing at 60Hz or you have your refesh rate set to 40Hz what you are seeing is an artifact of the mismatched refresh rates and not an issue with the LCD panel or laptop.

It doesn't void your warranty, just don't expect them to warranty the display. You don't need to check every option, you just need to know if the one panel you want works.

With the LG and CMO displays, yes. AUO, not so much. As a matter of fact DallasGeezer had his display issue resolved when he received his replacement with an AUO panel rather than an LG. I still think the interference in that video is due to mismatched frequencies. Have you ever seen an older TV show where a television is visible in the background with black bands scrolling continuously? It's the same thing but not nearly as visible.

Edit: Let's just agree to disagree. I just hate to see misinformation that may put off prospective buyers.

The Alienware and XPS17 L702x (3D compatible) both use the LP173WF2, but I am not sure if they both use the same cable. The L702x is below. Either way, the system board connector side of the ribbon cable would need to be changed or modified.

I have come very close to ordering a M6600 IPS based system to tinker with, but that is a lot of $$ to float while I find the answer. I wish someone with a IPS based system would take some pictures of the cables used.

Yes, it is a drop in swap with no cable/connector changes.

I can take one tomorrow, does anyone know how to force the nvidia card to work in an optimus setting?? I have a spare unit with a 3000m that I am testing and for some reason all my games are not being used by the dedicated card.

You can assign a preferred graphics processor to specific apps using the nvidia control panel.

I'm getting some static sounds, some popping over the onboard speakers when doing things like opening folders, or when a system dialog box opens up. This is on the touch screen M6600. Anyone have this?

The m6500 covet (edge-to-edge screen) is glossier and both are acceptable types of glossy.

Good enough for quick and simple work (word/email) at the airport even with strong down-lights shining down to the glossy screen.

    disconnect charger

"chkdsk c: /f" in cmd in admin mode

    restart

try to check sounds, when chkdsk is working. Is it the same or similar ? If yes, these are MB components sounds and Dell also has got some problems with it in many series (I observe it in M6600 and it's reported in various forums)

    Well, I'm not against Dell.

I was using different TVs (CRT and LCD) and monitors (CRT and LCD) and I have seen various artifacts. I think, that some older than M6600 devices were better too.

I understand, that confirming some issues is later connected with money. Maybe this is the reason, that Dell can't confirm AUO observations or release BIOS A08 with fix ? I don't know. Maybe it's put on hold, because Dell is concentrated on LG issues ? I don't know. Maybe they're working already on M6700 ? I don't know.

But I know, that in picture area every doubt should be always explained and there is no excuse here.
