That's not great - I presume you're running the Power Saver profile (if you haven't tweaked it further)?

I get a little over three hours without Optimus, and 5-7 with Optimus. I push 7 hours when I take the workload down pretty low (e.g. just writing in Word) and shut down other applications.

I do use the power saver modes, and have customized them to restrict CPU/etc to a greater extent.

    Granted, I only have a Nvidia 3000M, not a 4000M. i7-2860QM, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD (main) and 500GB HDD (data).

In my opinion that's the comfortable settings. Anything more will be hard to view. 3-4 hours is more than sufficient for a meeting and with a project so 50% brightness is acceptable. Then it's straight back to the docking station.

It's not an Ultrabook, though I am keen to get a 2nd generation ultrabook probably in Dec 2012 when it's out. That would be the ideal machine to carry around for presentations and meeting. Heavy work on rendering and engineering work will be on the m6600.

Wow, 7 hours. Does seem troublesome without a 3rd party app. e.g. turn off services, apps etc. Most of these apps are not that trust worthy - especially the free ones or sharewares. Imagine an Ultrabook, you may get 12 hours. :)

I know there are some who obsessively hypermile for one reason or another but I'm not that guy - I'll have a specific setting in the Power Saver profile and that will be that, i.e. no services shutting down, no cutting of plugins, etc. Wondering if the 7 (or the 8 I think mentioned elsewhere) end is with that. Still, if more people could post their runtimes that ought to give me a good averaging point.

Just recieved my new M6600, runs great so far. Just the only issue is I was issued the LG Display. Overall what are the issues with this?? I have a M6600 test machine here with the AUO screen. Could I swap it out?? The only issue I have is that the one with the AUO screen does not have the webcam while my unit does. Will that be an issue??

For the LG display, the complaints I've seen are that the color / brightness / viewing angle might not be quite as good (you can check this for yourself if you have both screens available), and there might be a flickering problem if you set the brightness very low.

Shouldn't be an issue to swap them. There would only be potential trouble if one of the machines has an IPS or touch screen and the other one doesn't.

Yup. I swapped mine with no issue. The hardest part is getting that darn plastic monitor bezel off the machine. Everything after that is a piece of cake. The webcam is not attached to the display itself, so that shouldn't be in issue.

Odd could you send me some pics on how the install goes?? Both panels are not IPS or touchscreen.

I'm having a weird problem while typing on my M6600 keyboard (only have noticed it recently because most of the time, I've been using an external keyboard with the dock station)...

Namely, from time to time (quite often, actually) the focus in the window I'm typing in (like e.g. Outlook message compose window), would jump up into the ready text, and the new characters get inserted there. I suspected this might be caused by inadvertently touching the touchpad, but this is not the case. I have no clue why this happens - it's just as if I clicked the mouse into the text, several lines above the one currently being typed...

    Anyone else noticed that?
