Here is another request: as some of you might remember, I had a problem with CPU temperature and had the heatsink replaced. I'd be grateful if those having the 2920xm posted their temperatures at 100% load (e.g. running Prime95).

However, it's very important to include in the snapshots the current core clocks along with their temperatures; HWInfo64 is good for that. Because hitting 90C at say 3.1 GHz is quite another matter than the same 90C, but at 2.3 GHz....

PS As my clock speed readings fluctuate during the test (and so will yours, I suppose), it'd actually be nice to have several different screen dumps, or a log file, for fair comparison. Speaking of a mobile Sandy Bridge CPU's temperatures without the context of actual core clocking is futile!

PPS I just thought of yet another important factor: the temps and clocks at which your CPU fan kicks in, and its speed!

    Check this out...

Or convince dell to replace you a new heatsink.

Did you disable the touchpad just to be sure (Fn-F5)? Mine does this unless I do so and I swear I'm not touching it either.

Afternoon chaps - just a quick one, anyone installing the Windows 8 Consumer Preview able to confirm that the M6600 touchscreen driver is compatible with it?

fyi the download link (hint hint :) ) is

    http://iso.esd.microsoft.com/WCPDL/...18/Windows8-ConsumerPreview-64bit-English.iso

    cheers

p.s - Sorry, but I can see this coming so just want to cut it down before we derail this thread. I'm not interested in reasons why I might not want to run the beta build, I have long experiences with beta OS since Windows95 and I know what to expect. I am purely interested in answering the question of is the touchscreen supported using the driver or inbuild Win8 driver. Cheers.

The W8 Dev preview worked fine. That was released almost 6 months before today's Consumer Preview. I have it downloaded, but have not tested it.

Hi I've been reading through this forum with a lot of interest. Thinking of getting either the m6600 or the lenovo w520 and am wondering what you guys think, i.e. which is better! Thanks!

Hi, I just got my M6600, however I've got some big problems with the Nvidia quadro 3000M card, it's driver keeps crashing every now and then, I reinstalled the OS and the problem seems to have gone away, but whenever I start a sample program from CUDA the driver crashes almost immediately.
    My system specs:

    i7 2820qm
    8G DRAM
Nvidia Quadro 3000M (CUDA developer driver 286.16, I also tried the newest driver, but it also crashes before my OS reinstall, and it is not supporting CUDA, I can't run most of the CUDA test programs with it)

    Sample program that crashes:
    simpleD3D10Texture.exe from CUDA 4.1

Can someone have the same graphic card please test this for me, and see if this CUDA program crashes your graphic driver as well.
If this problem exists just in my computer, I am going to call DELL about it.

    Thank you guys in advance!

I can't help you exactly as I have the 5010M card with 295.73 NVIDIA driver, but just to support that the sample is ok I grabbed the simpleD3D10Texture.exe file already compiled from here, and it ran perfectly.

Thanks for your reply, but just to clarify, it was not the SLI version I was talking about, it is the "Simple D3D11 Texture" in the website you gave me.

I think I need to talk to DELL any way, any suggestions in what to ask? New graphic card or another machine?

Works fine in the Dev preview, don't see why not. I have it setup on a small secondary partition.
