Hello guys, I have a few questions regarding future updates to m6600 (or its successor):

    1) Ivy Bridge (IB)
    2) New chip-set
    3) 7xxxM equivalent FireGL from AMD

    And the questions are:
    a) When?
    b) Will AMD card be capable of supporting IPS (10-bits)?
    c) Will 4000HD in IB be capable of supporting IPS (10-bits) and Optimus or AMD's analog?
    d) Will it be possible to upgrade current m6600 with these parts and what are downsides? Like having 4000HD capable of 10bits, but lacking connection due to outdated mobo.

And, finally - any chance to see IPS and touchscreen working together? What's the total response time of current IPS?

Many thanks ahead & thanks guys for very informative thread :)

Anything we say on that would probably be pure speculation.

Someone recently started a new thread on this very subject. That may "answer" some of your questions.

Why wouldn't it work? The chipset doesn't have a memory controller.

I have an update on the LG panel flicker problem. My M6600 was sent to the Dell lab in Austin. They called in the LG rep, and they took it to Korea to examine it. I received an update today from the engineer in Austin :

"There is a tiny damping resister cracked that has caused the blinking as you referred to, it is called “Jitter”. We appreciate your input and patience. LG has deemed this as (PCB component crack). "

Seems odd to me that this would cause all of the LG flicker problems..

Does anyone's system throttle the CPU/gpu when a lower wattage PSU is used?

I know its not ideal, but I have a 150w dell that I use when I'm at home and I take the slim 210w with me.

On the 150w it locks the system at 700mhz, etc, even though it doesn't throttle on battery:confused:

If you want to use the system at full speed, you have to have a 210 or 240 W power adapter.
