    hi guys,

I've just had my replacement M6600 delivered (this time it has the touchscreen and the accidental damage), first thing I did was check the screen make as I know it has been the source of some issue on this forum.

I have the LG Touch Panel.... thoughts pls.

(I had the AUO non-touch panel in the previous unit and tbh I thought it was..... erm... "tihs". First glance at this one give an impression that it has much better colouring.... but that is very much first glance. Only opened it 10mins ago.)

Let me know, its cost me an arm and a leg and I'm not afraid to send it back to Dell.

    Cheers

    M.

The touch panels are glossy so the color may seem a little better. Check it at low brightness levels and see if it flickers at all. (I don't think the touch screens have this issue.)

Otherwise, if it looks good then you're set. :)

Does anyone have a recommendation for cleaning the anti-glare screen. Like a certain cloth or something? I have lens cleaning solution for my camera lens, but the screen has that antiglare coating and i would like to get some other opinions first.

    Thanks

I have been trying to get more info on the IPS screen. Is it made by LG or AUO? Does it have the flicker problem?

oh for goodness sake... its flickering like a :(

Not just a faint flicker like the refresh rate is slightly off, no no, its like it can't decide what brightness the screen is meant to be and keeps switching +1/-1 brightness setting all the freeking time.

Majorly annoyed. If this is a widespread known issue then Dell really should stop shipping this crap.

Ofc if I drop the Dell driver and install the latest Intel driver then the brightness change doesn't work at all.... so it defaults to max and doesn't have the issue, but that's no sodding good either.

I guess the touch screens do have that problem. :p
(Actually, I think the touchscreens were pretty much all AUO until somewhat recently.)

Some people have claimed (possibly short-lived) success in fixing the issue by upgrading to the A07 BIOS, but the only sure way to fix it at the moment is to get a different screen. :-\

It's luck of the draw, depends on what they happen to have on hand. I had two brand new M6600's with flickering LG panels, one in December and another in early January. They were warranty replacements, I swapped my current AUO panel into the replacement each time and the flickering magically disappeared!

My son's computer, a Dell Precision M6600 is having some problems. When the computer boots up, it goes to a screen that is black and has a large arrow there. I can hit CRTL-ALT-DELETE and nothing happens. I have tried everything. I tried booting in SAFE mode but it does the same thing. I tried using a Windows 7 disc to enter Repair mode, but that doesn't work.

I guess all that is left is to re-install Windows 7. I have tried to get into the Dell Recovery Partition by hitting the CTRL-F11, but it will not let me. Are there others ways to get into the Recovery Partition? Thanks.

What do you mean large arrow? Does it look like a command line? Or does it looks like a virus graphic?

It was a larger cursor arrow. I got it fixed. I had to re-install the Dell Factory Image. I'm glad all my files were on my other drive.
