I got Chi mei-ed again. My defect Lg is being replaced by a refurbished! Chi mei. Auo was promised... Scandal I think.

I dont know how this could have happened. I'm quite sure I got one screen which was changed for someone for the simple reason it is horrible.

Dell how can this possibly happen? How can Chi Mei screens get into the change parts if it is no longer built in in M6600 for being very bad?

The tech was completely nice and competent. He agreed with me that this screen is unacceptable, and the case remained open. He will order a new screen for me. I told him I will gladly wait more then the usual 1-2 day but please get me an AUO for my pains (or at least an LG).

Me and the tech guy just have eliminated 2 hours of our life to this nonsense. And I will have to use this very bad screen until replacement.

To avoid that, try giving them the exact part number you're looking for. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...0712-m6600-owners-thread-272.html#post8158710 for the description and part numbers of many M6600 screens

You do need to demand the specific part number for the AUO and make sure they work with their "parts distribution manager" at the depot warehouse to insure NO part substitutes are offered/shipped.

The panel sent must be verified as Dell # H8D3K (AU Optronics B173HW01 v.5 – matte finish) or you must demand they reject it. If they do not have stock, you can demand a system replacement that is acceptable since the CMO is not even up to the published specs you paid for and should expect.

Good luck with your issue. Just stand fast and keep pushing them. In the end, Dell should make it right.

could someone clarify something for me please, I have the LG touchscreen and am telling Dell I want a shipped replacement M6600 as I'm not prepared to pay full "new" price for them to ship a crap screen and then have a Tech install a refurbished non-crap screen.

I've not had a response yet (shocking ;)) but I'm curious to understand how the part numbers work for the touchscreens. Are the actual panels the same part numbers and it just has the digitiser on top? or is it a combo screen+digitiser part number?

Anyone know the part number for the AUO (I believe this is the non-crap?) touchscreen?

    Cheers

    Thx for the help.

I was told that auo screen will be coming. Someone in the supply chain must have overruled that. But we will keep trying with the tech guy unitl this is solved.

The thing which is the worst in this is how could Dell allow this? Who could a refurbished crap screen get back to the precision parts?

Is there a way to limit how much wattage your laptop can pull? Just wondering if I can limit it to 100 watts since on the airplane you can only draw that much before it caps out.

Also, any word if ivy bridge Chips work in the 6600?

No. Your best bet here would be to find a 90 watt power adapter. The M6600 will run with it at reduced speed.

I'm sure that someone will try it and we'll have word in this thread once Ivy Bridge CPUs are actually available. However, word is that they're supposed to be backwards compatible with Sandy Bridge boards.

I wonder if the 90w adapter would explode under stress. Not literally, I hope. And how much are the official ones from dell? Can't find their accessories store page if there is one.

Latest word is many of the desktop Sandy Bridge boards will be compatible, but many mobile boards like the QM67 based ones used in the Dells will NOT be compatible. We shall see...
