    thanks for a detailed reply.

1.i mean to know performance difference between dell 128gb msata ssd, vs dell 2.5 inch 128gb ssd, both will be configured via dell online tool so no third party ssd's. also does having a second hdd as ssd helps in solidworks 7 photoshop, gaming? i.e scratch disk performance or windows 7 performance improves if second hdd is ssd?

i do have additional dell 128 gb ssd but do not wish to use it as second hdd as i want to have bigger hdd in second drive

2.again regarding ram i will just get ram with m6600 supplied by dell, does 1600mhz ram by dell cl rating is higher then 1333mhz cl rating, as i read if cl is higher then even higher bandwidth will lead to slower performance

    3. regarding cpu & GPU, i have decided on xm cpu and 4000m gpu, while i know i will not get battery life boost as i am choosing ips rgb display.

What did you do with your laptop?

Me, with this configuration: i7-2720QM/M8900, my best computer uptime was 4hrs (with the time, the battery life decrease, and now, I'm at 3hrs / 3hrs 1/2).

I wanted to give you guys an update with the problem I was having with the M6600 and the touch screen. It was constantly registering a touch on one spot, making the curser unusable. I first tried the windows based calibration tool, the Ntrig calibration tool, then a drive scrub, followed by factory image installation of the OS, then a Ntrig driver install. I don't think I remembered to try the Ntrig calibration tool after I downloaded the latest drivers. I called tech support, and he wanted to replace the panel. After having two flickering LG panel M6600s, one bad video card M6600, another M6600 with a bad touch screen, Dell had assigned my very own rep to deal with, and he has been great. Aint nothing like second level support.

Anyway, I just had a conference call with my Dell rep and a Dell engineer. He had me use the Ntrig calibration tool, which the dell service dept forgot to remind me to do after I had reinstalled the OS image. That seems to have fixed my problem. I have no idea what the Ntrig calibration does, since it does not ask the user to touch the screen , in fact, it says don't touch anything. I'm hesitant to say it's a sure fix until I have used it for awhile, but for now, it's usable.

So the moral of the story is if you have touch screen problems, don't forget the Ntrig calibration tool...

I am in search for the following screws.

tiny screw that hold the mSata card in place,
one screw that holds the eject latch,

If you know where I can get them, please let me know. Thanks

Can't help with this, but I need some screws too, I bought a Crucial M4 SSD 128GB, which I was looking forward to installing tonight. Opened up the M6600 (pretty clean considering some horror stories with Dell cert refurb) and realised I need 4 HD mounting screws to fix the SSD to the bracket. Are these a standard size? I'm at work and can cannibalise screws from various desktops but they all seem too big.

Actually I'm being stupid here... I need screws that will fit the SSD not the bracket right?
