Does anyone know if these parts list indicate that I'm getting a touchscreen FHD screen? Can't tell if 02H8F is maybe the touchpad. My original parts list doesn't say touchscreen anywhere so I'm curious (my first post here)

No, you are not getting the TS.

You will be getting the LG LP173WF1 1080p display panel. That 02H8F is simply an in-house TS informational reference; not actual hardware.

    Scott-

Thanks. I saw your post comparing the different panels here . Have you been able to test the LG with your machine since then or have any more data on the quality?

So i got a SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD for my m6600 and decided to clone my factory 500GB HDD with just the OS on it so far. I can't get Windows 7 Backp & Recovery to restore a backup of system image i created after resizing OS partition to 50GB (and it also included the 16GB Dell's restore partition). Clonezilla worked and cloned the OS partition to SSD but Win7 refuse to boot off it claiming Autochk can't be found. Tried to use Windows installation disc repair option but doesn't help. I tried many configurations with and without HDD installed but seems like cloned SSD just wouldn't boot successfully. So my question, does anyone have successfully cloned their HDD to SSD and made it work? If so, i would appreciate what application you used to clone it and a high level overview of the process.

I cloned a different ssd but that's the same principal...

I used I think Seagate's clone software.. This afternoon I'll do out again using Intel's :)

I think there are some open source cloning options too...

Is there a way to find out what LCD panel my M6600 has without dismantling the display assembly?

Look up hwinfo64. It can tell you the display information.

Ok just finished the clone with Intel's version of arconis.. That was the easiest clone I've ever done.. Makes it tempting to buy the retail or at least upgrade :)

Anyway, I made a disk from the data transfer software and booted with that... I put my target drive in am external esata enclosure and clicked about 5 times then walked away.. Then removed the Intel 510 from my main bay and replaced it with the SanDisk...

I'll do the same thing to my wife's machine soon, but going from a mushkin to the 510...

If you have a wd or Seagate platter drive you can use their transfer software.. It just needs to be plugged into the machine while you run the transfer software...

(i think both will even work with usb drives)

I backup my m6600 using windows backup (including a system image) to my w2008r2 server and have restored to a completely different m6600 over the network without any issue. (iSCSI allows you to do differential system images over a network as win7 sees this as a physical drive, not a network share). I do this every month or so to ensure my backups are working as expected. These backups are created from a SSD & restored to a HDD.

I guess maybe because my image had 2 partiotions in it (OS and Restore) and i assumed when restoring this imag to SSD, Win7 will automatically create the 2 partitions but i guess not. I thought it was due to different sized partitions even though my target SSD was 120gb and source OS was just 50gb plus another 15gb of restore partition.

So does the target drive needs to have same number of prtitions as were in the image? Or this is more related to partition sizes?
