Agreed. I don't see how a video card can be optimized for 16:9 compared to 16:10.

It is highly unlikely that they go with totally new design and body with the new Latitudes. Just look at the previous D 4**, 5** and 6** series - they have been the same basic body and chassis for many years - just new platforms and chips and a pretty small facelift design changes at some parts, bays, ports, strips etc. And the contemporaty, completely different - E series have just 1.5 year old design and looks and is arguebly very successful - I think that they will stick with it for at least few more years.
fom me - 16:9 displays on business laptops = stick with my current E6500 for as much as it lives...and then get a second hand or refurbished 16:10 Thinkpad, Latitude or Precision ...:)
sorry, sellers - 16:9 is great on a 50'' plasma TV, and is still good on a desktop 23-27'' display, but for business applications on a tiny laptop - it sucks!

I hope not. I hope they realize this kind of marketing could backfire if people mainly use external 16:10 monitors. I know i wouldn't be happy anyway.

the D610/810 to D620/820 series was a MAJOR overhaul. 4:3 screens with Pentium M CPU's to 16:10 widescreens with C2D's.

Sincerely, I think that would be a smart move of Dell to keep 16:10, and I am saying that not just because I hate 16:9, but take a look in the main competitors: HP has totally moved to 16:9, Lenovo has partially moved to it (keeping it just in some 14.1” thinkpads as long as I know). Dell could therefore have a differentiated product by just keeping 16:10. I would totally go with Dell at least (that’s why I am here waiting).

    - yes, they changed the form due to the new wide displays, and they of coursee change the hardware with every new intel platform, but the overall style and design remained the same - that is my point.

I sincerely hope so. The consumer can already get 16:9 in their domestic line (like inspiron). It is not necessary to bring it to the business line.

But Dillio187 is right with regard the screen: they can keep more or less the same chassis (like the D series and now the E series) and even so change the display... That worries me...

There is a reason why everyone moves from 16:10 to 16:9 - the panel suppliers don't built the 16:10 anymore.
