You've hit the nail on the head. I was wondering why the bezel didn't look bigger at top and bottom. Effectively, the width of that ledge represents the loss on the height of the display. And see how narrow the touchpad buttons are!

It is an... improved?... vostro V13 with a horrible resolution (1366 x 768). The name latitude 13 can just be a marketing trick. I am keeping myself away from this.

Seems like the same marketing gimics they did with the Minis and the Vostros Minis...

A matter of personal preference, I think quite a few consumers do not mind 1366x768 and would even prefer it over higher resolutions (especially at that screen size). Then again, I'm pretty blind. :)

Of course it is personal preferences, as it is the fact that I think it is ugly that shelf on the back trying to hide the loss on the height of the display. I could give plenty of reasons for why this resolution is bad, but this is not the space (I did it already here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=392545) and in the end is always about personal preferences (do you want more power, more battery, more colors, more space...). I don't see much reason for not calling it an vostro V13 2.0, IMHO. So far, I like Dell, that's why I keep reading here, but I am not naïve to think that everything Dell makes is good and innocent.

Some more information from Dell's website:

    V13 (13.3" 1366x768)
    Width: 13" (330mm)
    Depth: 9.06" (230mm)
    Height: 0.65-0.78" (16.5-19.7mm)
    Starting weight: 3.5lbs (1.59kg)

    1320 (13.3" 1280x800)
    Width: 12.48" (316.9mm)
    Depth: 9.57" (243.2mm)
    Height: 0.9-1.46" (23.8-37.2mm)
    Starting at: 4.1lbs (1.86kg)

    E6400 (14.1" 1280x800 or 1440x900)
    Width: 13.1" (335mm)
    Depth: 9.37" (238mm)
    Height: 1-1.2" (27-31mm)
    Starting at: 4.3lbs (1.95kg)

In summary, taking the V13 as a reference to the Latitude 13 13.3”, it will certainly be lighter and thinner, as it should be (this is the whole point of this line) but its width and depth will be closer to a 14.1” E6400 than a 13.3” Vostro 1320.

I hope they upgrade the screens in the Latitude E4300. The vertical viewing angles are horrendous. That and they could make the keyboard a little nicer. The keys are a little sluggish. Would be nice if they could match lenovo in that regard.

Any signs of a 17" Latitude?

That would be great, but they want you to be buying a precision workstation. Hey guys is there any chances of seeing a more ultra portable precision like the m11x?

My guess would be no (unless you count the Latitude).
