I'm a bit confused, what happened to the E series? Did it get eaten?

No, is this really it? Guess I'll just stick with this older E6400... *shrug*

To be fair though, the prior gens have rounded corners too. As far as the keyboard goes I'm a bit torn. I too am used to having the page navigation keys at the top because it's been a Dell thing for so long. I esp hate laptops that combine these keys with arrows and require the use of the FN modifier key. (looks at netbook on desk)

As far as the keyboard goes, I'm not sure. I do know they made a big deal about the beginning E series machines and how the keyboard was "precision tuned". In real-world use I really liked it. I hope the same has been done for the new E-series

I agree about the soft corners... comfortable and a scrunch easier to access.

I'll bet the keyboards are just fine. They are not going to skimp on the keyboard on an enterprise series that is going to usher out Windows XP like yelling fire in a theater.

I like 'em... they look less delicate than the E1s and E2s. The silver banding is not as stately as all black, but it can fit in and show less handling and edge wear. And may look just fine in person... not as 'stiff' as the previous all black builds.

Oh geez...that the heck is that? Looks like something fit to wear the Vostro brand, not Latitude...

I may need to buy an E6410 soon...

You can have a curved shape without it looking like a consumer model. Just like at the older D series notebooks. During the time I had my E6410, I actually like my D620 better than the newer E series. I just feel it feels more solid.

But for an entry level business notebook I will stick with the older E series unless Dell makes radical changes to their new line.

I totally agree with you. These photos remind me of the Thinkpad Edge, which is a consumerized business laptop.

Thank goodness I like to buy and use outdated technologies anyway. I will be happy with my Latitude D820 for a couple years, after which I will upgrade to an E6500 (with WUXGA of course!) and keep it for a while. So, I will probably have professional-looking laptops for at least 5 more years...

What makes the E-Series an *entry-level* business notebook?

Man Dell has lost it on design. Need pics of the E6220.

Ugh... definitely not something I'll be interested in anytime soon. Damn... guess I need to find a nice E6400 cheap when someone gets the "new stuff" 'cause I'm just not going this route, even in spite of the advantages of Sandy Bridge.

I don't see anything with these new machines that compels me to even consider buying one, nothing at all. And that hideous despicable 1366x768 resolution... never. I can't even tolerate the 1600x900 either, to be honest. UGH.

1600x900 is enough pixels to work with, but the pixel density of 1440x900 is easier on the eyes.
