Seconded, that would be awesome! I've got money burning a hole in my pocket.

Edit: Also, thanks havoctec for joining in the conversation with the forums. I really appreciate that kind of transparency.

Wow. Way to miss the mark Dell. The W510 and the HP 8540W have USB 3.0.

It's really hard to believe they're dragging their feet like this...incredible. I have an m6500 on order, since December because of the USB 3.0 flap.

Ah, and you're saying that you know what you are talking about? ;)

Seriously, though, that's too bad. A bit surprising, too, given that quite a few new machines coming out now will come with USB 3.0, so it seems a bit strange that Dell would not include it in their flagship 15" mobile workstation.

But, like I said, I don't really care too much. I just want to be able to spec one out, and get it in my hands soon.

They should have been able to at least match HP Elitebook 8540w and their higher end GPU ATI FirePro M5800 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 too. Also, I hope that there is support for switchable graphics as battery life reviews seem quite high.

That's almost really too hard to believe...with all of the lappys this year coming out with USB 3.0, I really just can't see these new M4500s to not have it...just plain odd...

What makes you think the FX1800M won't come with GDDR5 memory also?

Yep, that's what makes this so mysterious: Obviously the technology is available and ready, so why not include it? It's not like USB 3.0 would add substantially to the footprint, energy consumption, or anything else. I mean, yeah, we can understand why they are not offering the FX 3800M in the M4500, but USB 3.0? There is also this creeping suspicion that if I order an M4500 now with USB 2.0, six weeks later Dell will offer them with USB 3.0 (again, see the M6500). It would really be nice if our Dell rep here could shed some light on this.
