    That, I really don't understand ... why ... ?? Lenovo W510 has two usb 3.0 ports...

I was hoping that this machine will be "complete", but in this case, M4500 won't be the most powerful 15.6 laptop

Ah, that clears things up, thanks! Now all I need is for the darn thing to show up on Dell's website so I can order it.

I'm not too concerned about USB 3.0 or not (even though, if I should venture a guess, for all we know the Dell rep quoted above might simply not know what he is talking about). Not too many peripherals available for this right now anyway, plus I don't do too much high-speed communication via USB on laptops either. I figure it'll take quite a while until USB 3.0 interfaces become available on cameras and camcorders as well.

Let's hope You're right and the Dell rep just don't know about USB 3.0 :)
As of USB 3.0 devices they are showing up quickly. The main reason for me to have it, is to be able to use hi-speed (or super-speed) pen-drives and external hdd's. There will be huge speed difference between USB 2.0 and 3.0.

My next laptop should last for about 2-3 years so It would be nice to have it.

USB 3.0 just has longer battery life, its not that fast at all, its having a usb hub or an esata that makes a huge difference. Which is what i have.

Oh really? Try google for difference between USB 2.0 and 3.0, it's only 10x faster.....negligable difference ;)

    USB 2.0 = 480 Mb/s
    USB 3.0 = 4.8 Gb/s

So it's ten times faster. Using 3.0 with external HDD You can get speed just like with esata ...

Can You explain how You can have better performance with usb hub ?

    havoctec,
Not to threadjack, but any kind of ETA on the M4500 and especially E6410 will be hugely appreciated!
