Adam, thanks for the time taken to post this. I also have the Covet on the way, prob next week. I'm only on my 3rd Dell laptop order, but my second order was a fiasco, but they eventually did right by me, so I'll keep ordering from them.

Please comment on the Edge to Edge Screen. I've always had matte screens, but always prefered the 'look' of a glass display inside, in use....

Are you happy you have the E2E? I got the Covet because I grabbed the 2 day price-grabber which made the Covet cheaper than the non-covet. Had it not been for that sale special, I would have got the non-Covet probably with an ATI card. So I'm wondering how I'll like the E2E as it was not really a consideration in me buying the machine, rather the specs/price from the sale.

    thanks

I'll get everyone the answers to their questions but right now trying to get the right drivers for the 32 bit side.

Every hour that passes I am getting more frustrated. Where is the webcam driver / software? And I cant find the security device software for the dell control point software. Dell's driver download site is incredibly slow. One minute the correct driver is there and one minute its missing.

    I need a break.

Im done for a few hours. I need to go back to the office and get the 2 disks that came with the system to see what drivers are on those disk (well, one disk is the OS - the other has drivers). Dell disappoints me again by now not having all the necessary drivers on their very very slow driver download site.

Specifically, the web camera (while no big deal but still) and more importantly the security software to set drive encryption which is missing from the 32 bit driver suite online - there are 2 files for ControlPoint and the other software utility is missing.

I am getting dual boot however. 32 bit and 64 bit. I have it set to pause on the boot up screen for 3 seconds to a default boot drive and then it continues unless I change it. Google EasyBCD if you want to adjust boot settings. Free little utility.

Adam, you might want to look into running a separate VM while in 64bit mode.

I need XP for a corporate vpn client and often have a linux desktop, to prevent the dual boot all I need to do is start the vm image, full screen it and bingo I have an XP client that does everything I need except play 3d games.

One serious advantage of having a VM image is you can set it up so nothing is saved and it runs totally from ram, good for security and performance.

Hi Guys, I've noticed something with the m6500 -I can hear a deep pulsing sound eminating from/around the laptop (not the speakers). Holding it up off the desk makes it go away. Its probably being caused by the vibration of the fans or something.

But I wanted to check if anyone else is getting this sound?

    (It might just be mine!)

Might have to look into some kind of sound dampner for it!

    Adam -

dell us site has been slow since thursday. Go
to support.euro.dell.com which is the UK site. Its a lot faster. The webcam software is on its own cd.

Yes, I run my business vertical market programs in an XP virtual machine, which the virtual disk is located on a 500gb external portable so I move it between laptops....it's saved many reinstalls of prior year programs during an OS switch, and of course runs perfect within a Fedora Desktop.

Adam, Have you checked your type number and manufacture info about your RGB Led Screen? Do you get Samsung or LG?

Mine are: SAMSUNG SSD PB22-JS3 FDE 2.5" 256GB

    Firmware: VBM9LD1Q

OK, I have no idea what any of that means, other than the size, but I hope it helps.
