I downloaded the new USB 3.0 driver. When I click on the 3.0 'app' in the Start menu, it says no 3.0 controller was found. I'll leave it to you pros to tell me what that means. I think it means we will need a firmware update to actually use the new driver. If the hardware was not there already, why release a driver?

Do please. Lack of USB 3 is definitely a problem for prospective multi-year owners, given that Lenovo and HP have already announced or are shipping notebooks with USB 3.

It's true. Lacking USB 3 is a bad decision, most especially for machines in the high cost brackets, these days.

Ok, I already pushed the warning button once here but nobody seems to really care.
The Samsung SEC5443 is an OLD display (more than 2 years) and can be found in Dell XPS M1730 and Alienware M17x. In those laptops, the SEC5443 is not sold as an RGB LED display, just regular LED. Then explain me howcome Dell is now selling it in M6500 as a top of the top wide gamut display ? There is something wrong here.
Another strange thing is that people here in France bought M6500 with WLED and got exactly same SEC5443 display as at least 2 persons on this board (AdamHLG and mitchellboy) who ordered RGB LED.
AS I already asked, could M6500 owners please check their display labelling so we can compare. how can we help each other to calibrate and find the right tuning for Nvidia or ATI if our display aren't even the same.

(P.S: I know I am like a dog on his bone...)

This is quite an interesting - not to say strange - story. Could the WLED be the same with RGBLED? Is this just another marketing trick that pulls though some extra money out of our pockets? Ok, I am a mechanical engineer and I probably won't need this super color matching and calibration as some other people here really do. Probably, I won't even be able to distinguish the differences between the two screens, but still my money should buy what they should buy.

absynthe21, I think now your warning button will trigger the red light alert...

Mine shows SEC5443 too (I have the Covet)

Actually, has anyone here used a "Displayport to HDMI" adapter to connect to external monitor? I'm having all sorts of issues with it, I've got a feeling that its the Displayport on the M6500 itself! (The adapter I'm using is by Delock http://www.delock.com/produkte/suche/Delock_Adapter_Displayport_to_HDMI_20cm_65091.html )
