I have had my computer now for 5 days. So far, it has locked up at least 7 or 8 times for no apparent reason. Frozen solid requiring hard reset. I have two SSDs in a dual boot 64/32 bit config and I am thinking its either the SSDs (it has happened under both configs) or the motherboard. I am not thinking it is software related inasmuch as Win7 is rock solid on my other PCs and I am getting the issue under both configs. It happens randomly either at boot up at windows splash screen or when in windows actually working.

Im gonna see how this progresses but if it continues I may call Dell. But if its a SSD issue what exactly will they do?

For now, if anyone else is experiencing this problem, please post a message up here in this thread so I can know if its only me.

    Hi Adam,

I am following your experience since your first post.
Our configurations are quite similar and I am experiencing different problems similar than yours.
As said on my previous post, Dell is supposed to change the motherboard and the video card as soon they will get the parts...

Could you please tell me if the HDD light is working for you?

    Thanks

OK guys what is better or comparable to this system? I'm starting to think it's way over rated and way to long to produce....

Concerning the screen, I don't know if it can help, but I just saw on the NVIDIA Control Panel this information:
    "Seiko Laptop Display"

The SEC5443 is the display controller/logic. The panel is the Samsung LTN170CT.

    - RGB LED / Nvidia / Samsung SEC5443 / LTN170CT Panel (gradx, norsten, AdamHLG, tomcom2k, Husqvik, Bokeh)
    - RGB LED / ATI / Samsung SEC5443 (mitchelboy)

    Bokeh,

I've attached a color plot of your monitor profile (in color), compared to adobeRGB (in gray).

Given the common usage of "gamut coverage" it could be said that your monitor covers 100% of adobeRGB. A "shift" in coverage can often be attributed to setting a different white point than native, or to the accuracy of the profiling hardware/software. But you can rest easy, you definitely have a monitor that covers 100% (by volume) of the adobeRGB gamut.

    @ingenuitor:

    HP EliteBook 8740w
    Lenovo ThinkPad W710

Both are not yet announced; there are leaks only. From that perspective, Dell is actually doing the best job in terms of availability.

Personally, I'm most interested in the EliteBook.

The SEC5443 is found in the M4400. The M4400 has a 15" display. The XPS 1730, M6400, and M6500 have also been seen with a 17" display and that same chip. What the M4400 does have in common with the rest of these machines is the option for a 1920x1200 resolution display.

At this point, my theory is - Samsung panel + 1920x1200 = SEC5443.

And rumor is, they'll both use the same lcd panel as the 6500 RGBLED.
