UGH! I hope you paid for your M6500 via credit card. I would initiate a dispute through your card company and not pay for the machine until it was replaced with a new machine. NO WAY would I accept that machine via repair at that point.

Yes, your i1display2 will calibrate. However, selecting AdobeRGB in the control point software both "shrinks" the color gamut of the display down from its native gamut, and shifts the white point. This will make it more of a challenge for your i1 profile to correct. In addition, it is best to avoid "double profiling" where possible. You can loose accuracy in a double conversion. It will probably work OK if you use the adobeRGB setting in control point, but it's not the optimum solution.

Hi keithsnell, I am also waiting for your machine:D because both of us use ATI card, some questions want to ask you:
1,have you checked the type number of your screen? is it also a samsung screen?
2, could you upload your profile ? I dont have Colormunki...
3, if you deselect the control point which means you dont need to install control point, so when you press FN or adjust the volume it wont show on the screen right?
4, have you checked your ATI memory clock, is it 832MHZ? One of my friend uses M6400 which also has ATI card, his memory clock is 848-850MHZ, I suggust you to install the 9.12 driver and modify the inf.

    1. OK, please remind me how to check if my screen is Samsung.

    2. I can't upload my profile to this site (wrong file type) but I will find a way to post it online and provide a link. However, you should be aware that my profile might not work for your display, even if it is the same manufacturer. Not all screens come from the factory with exactly the same color response. You're welcome to try it though.

    3. When I press FN, nothing happens; however, I still have a volume adjust Icon in the lower right of my screen that works properly.

    4. I haven't checked my ATI memory clock, and I probably won't load a modified driver. I'm a strong believer in the philosophy that "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." That's probably an American saying, but basically means that I'm not going to risk breaking something if what I have works well enough.

Well this was a horrible experiment. Failure.

I shot corporate portraits at work today with my 1DsMark III. Using Lightroom 3 Beta, before any post processing, I brought up an image on my desktop XPS9000 and Dell 27" monitor that was calibrated with the i1display2 last night.

I brought up that same image on the M6500 after calibrating it with AdobeRGB set in ControlPoint. It had a puke green tint and was horribly unbalanced compared to the Dell 27" monitor on my xps9000 - which I know is correct.

I immediately deleted the ICC profile and rebooted the M6500. When it came back up, it reset itself back to NTSC. And you know what? The colors almost match exactly between the M6500 and the 27" Dell monitor - and there is NO custom ICC on the M6500.

I am going to try disabling Control point. Why not. BRB.

!st go to the device manager and choose monitor, select the proporties, in "details" u will find the hardware id...(if it is sec544x, it should be the samsung screen)
2nd, you can change ur profile's extension to ".jpeg" and upload it. we just need to change it back then use it. 3rd, the dell provides us is rc driver, it is not the final one and i found lots of problem, seems like the driver doesnt support 1680x1050

Well, I got the same result without ControlPoint. I am wondering whether the problem is me selecting 'laptop display' instead of 'LCD Desktop Display' in the initial step of the iMatch 3 software - considering this is not your normal laptop display (again, I am using the RGBLED display).

EDIT: Tried a new profile with the initial iMatch software set to LCD. Same result. Unlike me to give up, but I give up. Maybe its user error. I did say I stink at this. But no matter what I try, NTSC mode without a custom generated ICC is the best match to my color calibrated desktop system. I don't know where to go from here other than to follow this thread until the color guru's figure it out.

    Thanks.
    Yes, monitor is SEC5443

The site wouldn't accept the profile as a jpg file, so I changed the extension to .doc.

If I run into problems with the ATI driver when I try to render video, then I'll be asking for help on how to update it. :)

    Adam,

I selected "LCD" instead of laptop when I profiled. I didn't want the software making any "assumptions" about a limited gamut laptop display.

I guess you can try the LCD option and see if that makes a difference.
