Pro support maybe different for each region in the USA its really top notch.
If the tech does not know it gets escalated immediately.
I have had issues with device drivers that have gone up the chain to engineers same day. (not with m6500)

Its pretty clear its not the same for the EU.
Thats the problem with global support inconsistent at best.
When I had asian users in the US and had to support them I had to contact asian support which was like talking to my pet rabbit, they only knew what was scripted for them.

@giannini: I myself have been the victim of utterly SHOCKING incompetence from Dell support; a torrid 2 months of stress over a broken XPS1640 TV tuner. In the end I just had to give up; the machine is still broken from last May when I bought it. (The only reason I gave up without fighting for a refund, was because the stup1d f*****g m0rons failed to charge my credit card for it in the first place... LOL)

So giannini, I hope you smear their worthless reputation across the globe... :D

@dezoris: "I had to contact asian support which was like talking to my pet rabbit" - You are so accurate... LOL

Dell Salesman told us, that without ordering a 2nd HDD we would not get the 2nd caddy.

Therefore I ordered with 64GB SSD and 2nd HDD.

I agree with you but in term of performance, my architects told me that a Alienware laptop was better than my new Precision M6500 on Catia and 3DS...
I choose for my guys always what I think it the best. And the difference between a gaming laptop and a workstation laptop has to be the certified drivers and the service. A lot of engineering/architectural companies are using now gaming systems instead of "Workstation" because it is no more rational to pay more to have less...

The M6500 is a great system, as Adam wrote "By far and away the most impressive, ultra fast, ultra cool, ultra expensive, piece of computer hardware I ever owned" but not a professional system for me. Imagine to go on a building site with it. I am already afraid to touch it when it is on my desk... for this reason Lenovo cases are perfect for people who work in this situation... and the service is incomparable!!!

By the way, why they are calling "Engineers" people coming on site when they are not, they are just "technicians" with no training?!

To be engineer, I studied 6 years at the Politecnico di T. in Italy.

I agree will most of you about the customers perseption. I work for an Architecture firm as well and if it meant taking my laptop (because this is somehting I'm paying for not my boss) to a meeting with a client. The ability to provide a seamless and impressive presentation would clearly win over any thought one might have conserning what my laptop looks like. Because we all know sitting there waiting for the model to regen or laggy rotation can loose a client attention in seconds. Especially one that is not very computer savy to begin with.

Now thats not to say that I won't stick with the m6500 if they decide to change the specs and provide me with the USB3.

Agreed. "Engineer" is overused to the point that it dilutes the word. It's an insult to the true engineers.

I have an engineering degree from an engineering college, and I've had several "Software Engineer" job titles. That said, even I do not call myself an engineer. I am a software craftsman.

Send the salesman a link to my pics earlier in this thread that clearly show the second caddy, foam spacer with screws for the drive, and protective plastic. I only ordered the SINGLE base 160gb drive on mine. Guess your salesman skipped so slides in the training presentation.
