USB 3.0 is currently scheduled to start shipping on Intel Core i7 Quad Core systems only, within a few weeks. I'm currently working on a way for customers who have already purchased a M6500 to order a kit and have a technician istall the USB 3.0 daughter card. I'm also investgating the possibility of ExpressCard offering for providing USB 3.0, if anyone is open to this option.

You are correct, Dell will pick a display at random. No laptop manufacturer allows you to pick what supplier you get. This applies to all parts, HDD's, LCD's, etc.. CPU, GFX, & WiFi are the only ones where the customer picks. The only way a customer can choose what supplier they receive is via the Dell CFI, Custom Factory Installation, program.

You don't get to pick the manufacturer unless it is specifically stated in the configurator. Otherwise you get the guaranteed minimum specification for the part ordered. Memory, HDD, LCD are 3 major components which fall under this category.

    Giannini,

The Contactless Smart Card reader does not ship with a card. We have not provided any cards with any Latitude or mobile Precision system in the past. The cards are purchased by customer/company and used that way. This is usually a special card that is used to get into your building.

    havoctex,

Dell should have an Option like:

Samsung 17” WUXGA RGB LED LCD OR LG 17” WUXGA RGB LED LCD

Just like: NIVDIA FX 3800M OR ATI Firepro M7740

Last time we ordered from Dell (long time ago), it was for the Precision M60 with 2 cards (With the Dell Logo) to insert up the PCMCIA port...

Before to order that test machine, my account manager send me this link:
    http://www.hidglobal.com/documents/dell_newlatitude_broch_en.pdf
where you can read "Dell offers HID Crescendo™ and iCLASS cards to work with the embedded readers".

It is not clear from Dell since the beginning.
I understand now why they send me the Palmrest instead of the missing card.

Thank you for the suggestion mannyA but that is currently not an option for our site, and no other manufacturer offers this either. As I previously stated, we do offer this option via the Dell CFI program.
