This would be perfect as I plan on returning the one I just received if there is no upgrade path. Daughter card is best, Express card would also be good as an option.

    Finally a good news!

From my side, I prefer Option 1 (USB 3.0 daughter card) as I will use a Firewire800 ExpressCard...

When you write "few weeks", could you please be more specific as my account manager that it will be one week after the news http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/...ble-and-updated-m6500-mobile-workstation.aspx

That would be fine if there was a professional, review or calibration presented on why one is better or worse over the other.
But Dell is not going to do that, it would be like specifying which hard drive to choose from, WD or Seagate. Too complicated for an OEM.

    Giannini,

There is a difference between the Smart Card and the Contactless Smart Card. There are so many different options for both of these now that customers now choose one vendor that they use, to standardize in their corporatation, pricing, and security reasons. We ensure that our Smart Card reader and the Contactless Smart Card reader works with the vendors out there that provide these cards.

I canceled my order today. Will have to reorder when USB 3.0 comes out per the rep. I told him if DELL wants to vex off a lot of customers, then keep on doing what they're doing by well knowing releasing a unit a month in front of a major tech change. I work off a tethered USB virtual machine, so I had no choice to but to wait.

Excuse my ignorance and the fact that I edited my post too late.

I know it exists many different options.

But I read in the PDF "Dell offers HID Crescendo™ and iCLASS cards to work with the embedded readers".

Once again, sorry for my english level, but it is not clear at all.

In my order, it is writen "Contactless card" and not "contactless card reader"...

    Am I wrong?

    dezoris,

The Samsung Display Panel is a piece of crap. The LG Display Panel is the one dell should go with.
    see LG Thumbnail.

And dell should be more Concerned with your Customers needs. US the People
    Paying for this System.

    mannyA,

Not sure what you are basing your comments about the Samsung and LG panels on. Since you have not owned either one, the Lenovo W700 does not ship these panels, you really have nothing to go on. I also have not shipped the LG panel until just recently and no one has had a chance to compare them side by side. I can tell you that both panels are spec'ed exactly the same. That is the way Dell requires them to be. Both are 8-bit RGB LED panels.
