Have you tried updating the audio driver with the latest posted on Dell support?

yes. it is the same that shipped with the system. I did reinstall it just in case. Spoke with Gold Support too and they are at a loss on this.

    havoctex,

Ok, if this is true "Rik Thwaites and Steven Roselle used are Samsung RGB panels. I should know because I gave them the systems" then what’s wrong with the Display Panels that are being shipped. From what I can tell they come from two deferent worlds.

If one orders the Contactless Smart Card Reader, is there a visual difference on the palm rest of the machine? Both in talking to my rep. and in reviewing the Website, it was unclear if the Contactless Smart Card Reader needed a different material for the palm rest. In other words: is it possible from an external inspection of the machine to determine if this feature is installed? I'd like one, but not if I have some big reader pad where the palm rest should be.

    Thank you.

read about similar audio anomalies in the new alienware 17x. A possible fix seems to be disabling 802.11a in the networking card. There is likely no loss in functionality since most wireless networks are 802.11 b g or n.

When the contactless smartcard reader in installed in the system there is an emblem on the right side of the palmrest. It looks like a rectangle with (( on the left and )) on the right.

There is nothing wrong with the panels that are being shipped. 99% of the people who order the M6500, even people on this forum, have no issues with the RGB panels in the M6500. The issues that some people are having might be due to the device that they are using to calibrate their display or it could be due to other reasons. Again, we are working with these individuals to get a satisfactory resolution for them.
