Your suspicions were correct mitchellboy. The card reader is a lot slower. The first test was via the card reader, second test via USB card reader.

Since Covet is only Intel Core i7 Quad Core, all Covet units are USB 3.0. USB 3.0 is only on the quad core systems, not on the dual core M6500's.

    Hi Havoctex,

Does this apply to all Covet systems from initial release or from a certain date?

I placed my order for Covet on 2/10, it is still "in production" but in "final assembly stages" according to my Dell rep; will my Covet have USB 3.0?

    "the suspense!"

If it can be confirmed that placing an order now for a Covet would guarantee that the system would be USB3 enabled, I'd pull the trigger. Talked to our company rep a week ago, and she had no ETA on when the "6500C" would have the USB3 option, but she at the same time offered to spec a non-Covet unit that she said would.

Add to that the lack of the reference to USB3 on the configuration for the Covet, and you might have the predicament that a number of people like myself are in. A waiting game to make sure we buy "at the right time" instead of taking a chance.

It's unfortunate that the site either isn't consistent, the reps aren't receiving up to date information, or that something else is out of synch in the production chain.

Isn't there another way of finding out without installing some software?

I thought you could find out throught the Nvidia control panel but wasn't able to find it.

Anyone using vmplayer in Win 7? When setting up a virtual ubuntu machine, it would only recognize 4 cores rather than 8. Anyone find a solution?

Been using the 6500 for about ten days and its fantastic. Other than the static in the sound everyone seems to be finding, I have few complaints. It renders a 2000 frame pyMol movie in 15-20 minutes versus several hours on my previous laptop!

Also, I must say, Dell is really getting cheap in its time. When I bought my XPS it cam with a nice pouche to hold all the software disk, mouse pad and instruction manual. THe only thing that cam in the box was the power strip, software and the laptop in a big box that said made in Malaita.

    Sorry about the spelling

OK, I have someones profile that I downloaded but I remeber that there is all sorts of stuff I need to do in order to let the Graphic card do color settings. Can anyone help me to get this right and I don't have time to read back through 2,000 posts to find what works

Also, is there something I need to do in order to have the processor run at its max/over clocked speed? I need this thing to haul since I have a rendering project due by Wenday next week.
