USB 3.0 card was sent to me. Thought I would share a couple of observations and pics.

1 – this is 100% not a user replaceable part IMHO. I don’t care if you have been rolling your own machines for a decade, the chance to break something during the install is high. Its like working on old HP Laserjets where you had to turn 100 screws to replace something. Not trying to put down the design, just saying that this particular install involves tearing a lot of the machine down. Much more involved than the M6300.

2 – I was able to get USB 2.0 functionality, but nothing was recognized by the NEC USB 3.0 Host Controller Utility. I had to go into the Bios and click the USB 3.0 setting that showed up. Everything then worked in USB 3.0 mode and it showed up in the utility.

3 - No, I do not work for Dell. I work for a large consumer of Dell machines.

4 - These being the first pics out there, maybe my Rep Power will finally make it above 1...

Try again! (weird smiley, maybe he uses his tongue to clean the screen before calibration) And yes I have LG panel.

Very nice pictures. The usb port looks less big than I thought. So there is still one usb 2.0 port on the right card. Is there a procedure to order this card?

The ports are the same size. If you look closely they have 5 extra contacts at the end of interface. They are also blue instead of black.

Only one board is replaced, so you only get USB 3.0 from one side of the machine.

Thanks Bokeh for these very nice pictures...

For your 1 point, you are perfectly right. Even if the DELL Technician "Engineer" are not able to repair that system http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5828326&postcount=1505
