That did help, BUT I'm not al that fond of the colors of this profile. Should I try and adjust the colors a bit by hand how do I save the changes to the profile?

    YBcold,

Turn off the Page File for your C: and put your Page File on your spinning
Drive, Or if you have Two SSD put the Page File on your D: drive.
Not on the same drive as your OS...

And yes two times the amount of RAM is a good rule of thumb. And if you are
using Autodesk products, like Revit 2010, I set my Page File to at least 16GB
Min and Max on D: drive to keep Windows from adjusting your Page File.

First if it’s a spinning drive; turn off the Page File for the D: drive, rebut your
system. Then defrag your spinning drive, so that you have Clean Continues
Free Space on that drive then set your Page File on your D: then turn off the
Page File for the C: drive, rebut your system. then your done... :)

    1GB = 1024MB 16GB = 16384MB

    I hope this helps,

display comparison Precision M6500 versus Alienware M17X!

A view days ago I discovered that Dell :D offers 2 different 24 Bit color panels in their laptop line:

    • RGB-Led, wide gamut panel in M6400/6500
    • additional 2CCFL, sRGB gamut panel in alienware M17X

    look at specs:

    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/M17x/en/index.html

I assume that with 8 Bit resolution per color in sRGB gamut there should be higher accuracy for photographic workflow? Because high-end Desktop monitors - as my own Eizo CG243 - work with 10 or 12 Bit color resolution in wide gamut mode.

RGB-Led panels with only 6Bit TN color resolution are IMHO senseless for photo workflow - like in Studio XPS16...

    Best, Walter

Do you think it is drivers problem or hardwares problem?

Not sure, but clearly disappointing. To make matters worse my OCZ Vertex drives seem to be limited to approximately 233MBs read speeds (normally >244MBs). I should have the C300 (Micron) next week so I'll run some tests to confirm my findings. Until then do you want to call tech support and make some inquires about the card reader? I would, but I don't have the patience to deal with them. :)

There's really no reason to set it to such a large size just to keep Windows from adjusting the size. If you set the Min equal to the Max, you will have a fixed page file size, and Windows will not adjust your page file. There was an old bug in Windows versions at least up to Vista, were even with a fixed page file size Windows would still tell you that it was adjusting the page file size, but if you checked you'd find that that's a lie.;)
I'm not sure if this bug still exists in Win7, but I wouldn't be surprised

Of course, if you really need that much virtual memory, by all means set it to the size you need. However, if you are really paging out 16gigs to a hard drive, your system will probably be close to unusable anyway...
