Woooooooot. So it is going to happen then :)

Can't wait to have different OS's on different USB 3 drives.

I keep thinking along similar lines. Its not what USB 3 options are out there today, its what could be available over the 3+ years that I use this machine as either my primary or secondary machine. I fully expect flash drives that can take advantage of the 500Mb/s speed in 24 months.

The 2x RAM rule made sense back when machines had 64MB RAM.

These days, with systems containing 4GB, 8GB, and up, almost everything I do runs 100% in RAM. I typically allocate only 2GB to my page file. In fact, I was running with no page file for a while. The only reason I created one again is that a certain game complains if there is no page file, even if you have more than enough RAM to run the game.

From Bokeh's daughter card, we can see the card reader is attached with daughter card. I hope the new card reader could read sdxc

So today tested an Alienware M17X display, the "unserious" alternative Dell :)

Must say a very good panel there inside, very accurate sRGB gamut, average deltaE from report is 1.3! Tested then with more than a dozen of personal pics - looks very good nad natural. Wow! :D Native color temperature is nearby D65.

I assume that is similar panel and/or quality as in Lenovo W700...

So now i am very curious about the RGB-Led panel (24 Bit too) in Dells M6500... Sadly you can see it in no shop here. :(

    Best, Walter

ha...no kidding....that's an old wive's tale these days...think about it...if you add 16 gigs of ram, your swap file should go DOWN not go up to 32 gigs....LOL

Anyway, just let windows manage it ....forget about it.

Hi all.......First post but I have been reading most of the thread. I am looking for any feedback on the FX2800 card and i7-820 as a slight savings on the 6500. for use with Adobe Production Premium as well as Lightroom.

*Update...System on order as price was compelling and it "should" be perfect for my use. Specced with above and 1ssd+1hd, USB3, rgbled, slim brick and 5300.

Hope I can offer something productive here in the future.

    John

I have Win 7 64 bit base OS and run amongst other OSes Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) in Sun VirtualBox. This setup allows me to assign 8 CPUs to Ubuntu ...

I was never able to get it running properly in the Windows Virtual PC that one gets with the free Windows XP VM.

Thanks for the heads up on this - I will make sure when I order my system to spec the necessary connectors and drive cages.

From the online manual, it looks as if there is space next to the primary hard drive...

USB 3.0 will be included on the M6500 Quad Core systems starting with orders placed after March 2nd, this is the official date that this option became orderable. Sorry but since your system was ordered prior to this date it will not have USB 3.0. We are still working on the plan to allow individuals to upgrade their systems to USB 3.0.
