No, I did NOT do a clean install....it was clean when I got it....no reason to. Have you got yours yet?

just had a chance to tried those things from usb.org

    basically it didn't work.
However I was able to install the drives as described on the manual so I got my USB host 3.0 reconized by the drivers (signed not as NEC anyway)

Unfortunately not only the two USB ports on left side didn't work but running their diagnostic tools my controller failed all tests.

Now... I've got just 3 possible things.

    1- my adapter is faulty.

2- need to perform a clean installation again and see if something changes.

3- the W7 x64 OS that comes pre-installed with the M6500 has some chipset drivers that dell hasn't released yet on the website (if you see, there are some available drivers for both XP x64 and VISTA x64 on the chipset section that aren't available for W7 x64, I'm talking about this: Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility 9.1.1.1015, A01 ) << these driver has been installed by the dell guy during the remote session he did, that's why my USB controller where signer as intel(r) 5 series/3400 instead of generic ones... but maybe they didn't work for something else, who knows.

I'm also very tired to perform all these tests but I'd like to say thanks to everyone who helped giving me suggestions and potential solutions. I've appreciated it.

When I've got some free days I'll try to re-install everything again.... it will be pailful and time consuming maybe but at least I'll know whether a clean installation can solve the issue or not.

What error code did you get when you ran the diagnostic tools?

Good to hear you finally have your system after such a long wait. :D Now all we need is for Dell to announce the M6600, and restart the whole process. :D

For copying large amounts of data, RAID 0 will be benefical (both drives working in parallel). I cannot comment on 3D CAD work; for video I have a RAID 0 setup for source footage. Works great.

Glad to hear about your backup workflow. I encounter far too many instances and stories about 'lost data': keeps me busy and helps pay the bills though.
