    theZoid,

Go for the dock, and two external monitors it’s a sweet setup.

    And for thus inquiring minds;

I had to cancel for now, I am still going to get my M6500. But I have to wait because of my W700. Lenovo will not give me a refund, but They will exchange the W700 for the W701 so I am in the middle of that right now.

They are doing the right thing; I have to give Lenovo that, and I do...

I can’t afford to have 14thu up in the air at once, its wait and see time.

What are you going to do if they exchange you a w710? You've spent a lot of time on this thread for someone without an m6500 in their foreseeable future. Good luck on that, it's an awesome laptop. Much better than the Stinkpad :D

I will have my M6500 by December...

It will make for a good side by side competition...

    theZoid,

I ‘m sure it will; but the w701 will work very well, in my Cisco lab.
It all works out in the end…

    :)

    theZoid,

    I am what I can’t own both, M6500 and W701.

I will have my M6500 very soon; I just can’t have that much money
Out there not working for me.

    :)

Well, thanks for pointing out the USB 3.0 availability, or I may not have mine right now yet. May the Precision Gods look down favorably on you :)

That's outrageous. I paid under GBP2000 for my Silver M6500, and that includes VAT, and I got a dock and a bag in that price too with several extras. I do have the 720 processor and only 4GB RAM, but that in no way accounts for the difference, and I do have the RGBLED too. Tell them what you're prepared to pay and see if they can reconfigure it in a way that you can still accept technically. I gave them the price ceiling and pushed and prodded on the config until we reached an agreement. Ultimately, going aftermarket particularly on the RAM and the disks (and conceivably the processor) will save you bucketloads. Look very hard at whether you need that much CPU and RAM straight off. The CPU is worth perhaps 30-40% speed when you're running flat out, but most of the time you won't see so much difference.

    Paul.

And when it comes down to it, you could buy an additional (and quicker) quad core desktop machine for less than the price difference between your and my machines and then just remote desktop into it when you absolutely had to have the power!
