that's right....brain freeze ..duh on me (2am post)! OK, what the best way to run the second HD....non raid for data storage? i.e. two independent drives? or just spring for two fast SSD's...haha. But I'd like to add one SSD for now and keep the mechanical....been a long time since I've FDisk'd, swapped drives, etc....back in the 90's....I need to refresh a little.

    Hi Perunsk,

You can download all the latest driver software here:
    http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...temID=PREC_M6500&os=W764&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Ti fix the popping noise, just don't install (or uninstall if you have already installed) the sound card software driver. The standard one that comes with Windows will do.

As for your space key making a weird squeaky noise, mine does it too. I've become used to it though so it doesn't bother me. Dell sent me a free Alienware external keyboard but I haven't even used it so far.

    Hope this help. Thanks!

    Hi Sherman

    Thx for the fast reply.
If i uninstal that audio driver, would be the sound quality still good?

I already have the touchpad driver but i cant find the software where u can set up the functions of the touchpad. Maybe am just too tired and cant see it.

I hoppe i get use to the space key noise coz it makes me angry :))

    many thx

    And an other question.

i get quite average results in cinebench : multi rendering : about 9500 and openGL : about 6800
i have the i7 720qm and ATI card
i saw on some tests on notebookcheck notebooks with same CPU and gaming card and almost all of them do more than 10000 on multi rendering.
And also i saw Mitchellboy results on notebookcheck forum and he gets over 9000 in openGL!!! Huge difference!

Do you guys have any idea why my results are so average???

BTW i installed the newest ATI driver from dell website

    Thanks a lot

    @theZoid:
There is a third option for your HDD/SSD setup. Get an HDD caddy for your DVD slot, add an SSD for your operating system and run two HDDs in RAID.
I doubt whether the mini card SSD will really have a reasonable performance. I'll not believe it until someone shows me some benchmarks.

    Another Linux related issue:
Has anybody with an NVIDIA card succeeded to get some output on an external display? No matter if via Display Port or via VGA.
I tried both, but xrandr didn't even recognize, that there is a monitor attached. I tried the nvidia driver 190.53 and vesa. nouveau still seems to be too buggy.
I can exclude that my peripherals are defective. The same monitor and cables work fine with my other notebook.

    Edit:
Forget this external display issue! Display Port and VGA work fine with the 190.53 driver. This is my first notebook with proprietary graphics drivers and I didn't think of GUI-only options.
