    I saw full 4 hours of BCS Football today in Windows media center (using over-the-air USB TV Tuner) and leaving the laptop on a pillow. Media Center was flawless without even a single jitter during that time. At the end of the game, bottom of the laptop was barely luke warm and fan noise was almost non existant through out the game. Never seen anything like V13 before.

    As far as battery life goes, its averaging around 4 hours with display brightness set at medium. when on battery, I mainly use Outlook & IE and occasionaly watch youtube or hulu videos.

    I haven't run into any issues yet. All is well with 64 bit so far.

    Just wondering, I'm really considering this laptop but I'm worried about a few things . .

    1. I use my laptop as my primary machine to do all my torrent downloads and uploads, and as such . . . it stays on 24/7! I have heard that Dell's buisness line is much better for this use (24/7) rather then their home/personal line. Is this true?

    2. I also have my current laptop's battery disconnected since I've heard running the laptop on outlet power with the battery in will decrease the life span on the battery. Now with this laptop I can't take the battery out very easily, so will there be an issue with this?

    3.) I would like the ability to watch some movies every now and again when I go on trips or something. Most of my movies are 720P MKV or 1080P MKV, what would you recommend the minimum hardware configuration I get?

    4.) Does anyone know of any coupons that are available right now? I know the $370 coupon is no longer available. . . anything else out there?

    Shake hands:D , ordered the same day, so estimated delivery date will be also 20th Jan for yours I guess.
    I just want to use smoothly MS word, excel, visio and project, that's it. I've read some feedbacks from foreign forum, Office 2010 feels somewhat jerky on Celeron model. Maybe I should try Office 2007 which showed very good performance on my SU3500 unit.

    personal opinions only :)

    1/ don't know;

    2/ Dell Control Point might be useful to handle this issue. I've heard this from another forum, this application can set to prevent battery from charging when using AC adapter;

    3/ since GMA 4500HD has ability to decode HD moive, Celeron might be enough to play 1080p smoothly. At least, my SU3500+GMA 4500HD (gateway ec1803h) has done this job perfectly;

    4/ no idea...

    just read some reviews from dell site, one guy said:
    "5. Super fast processing power. I loaded win 7 home premium on this Celeron Machine and my god you can't believe its speed, it's faster than the core 2 duo 2.2 I have. Thanks to the DDR3 ram and 7200rpm harddisk too! I open 15 browser tabs it still works like a champ!"
    but I remember the celeron model comes with 5400rpm harddisk, doesn't it? Or this buyer has replaced the original one? Does 7200rpm really make that difference? Maybe I should go to buy a SSD...

    There is simply no way a single-core Celeron beats out a C2D chip - we're talking about a major leap in processing power between the two. He must have made a mistake. And you're right, the SU chips are the only ones that include 7200 drives (unless he managed to call in and have them do that upgrade for him).

    For a good reference, try reading about the original Inspiron 11z. It used a slightly slower Celeron (723) with the same graphics chipset (4500). From what I've read, it's snappy enough under Windows 7. No multi-tasking beyond a few Firefox windows and Word though.

    I plan on removing Ubuntu immediately, installing Windows 7, and then running "services.msc" to prevent a lot of unnecessary services from running (i.e., indexing, user experience junk, etc.). You can add quite a bit of zip to slower systems with some tweaking. With 2GBs of Ram I expect decent performance for my basic needs.

    I can't wait to see this lappy in person!
