Thanks for the review, so a V13 with a SSD would be a silent system? Do you agree?

Not totally silent under load but at idle it will be very very quiet. The standard HD does need to be swapped out as it quite noisy compared to the fan.

I cant wait to get an SSD in mine ;)

    Hi

Dell's site does have the drivers mate. I downloaded them onto mine the other day. Everything works fine and all 4GB ram is useable.

However, I found you have to look amongst the other similar laptops for them. I.e The 11z, 13z, etc. They have similar componants such as the Synaptics, Realtek Audio, etc etc. Plus Win 7 finds many of them anyway.

Here is some details from mine that might be useful:

Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module : version 6.2.0.9000 Date 15\6\09
    Synaptics Touchpad : version 14.0.12.0 Date 23\10\09
    Intel Wifi 5100 AGN : 12.4.1.4, Date 26\03\09
Realtek HD Audio : Version 6.0.1.5886, Date 02\07\09

    :)

    Another useful one:

ST Micro Accelerometer : Version 1.8.3.0, Date 09/11/09

Does anyone who upgraded to windows have webcam issues?

I went from Ubuntu to Win7 Pro and I can not get the webcam to work at all. Any of you Win7 users out there care to share what drivers and software you are using for the webcam? Thanks.

I would not say that it would be completely silent but with an SSD it would probably be one of the quietest notebooks I have ever seen. There is definately a fan in this unit, its just the quietest one I have ever owned. Right now, I am in bed typing on this thing with no one else in the room and I can barely hear anything coming from this notebook. My Lenovo T60, IBM T42 and wifes XPS M1210 are all louder and I consider those notebooks to be pretty quiet as well. Only way to eliminate all noise is to find some notebook without a fan. Also, there is barely any heat coming out of the bottom of this thing in comparison to all the notebooks I have ever used. The annoyance factor is way down on this notebook. With barely any heat and fan noise I'm in heaven for the price I paid.

    Hi Mate

No webcam issues with Win 7 64 Bit. It will find the driver iteself, but there is also a Dell utility with the V13, or you can download for the camera if needed. But I just use the Skype etc with no issues.

I have tried just about everything. This disc I have has Ubuntu on it, and the drivers and utilities disk has nothing for the webcam.

Looking under device manager I don't even see where the webcam is located. I've never had a webcam before so I am tottally baffled with this issue.
